Compare his LA stats to the starts in Vancouver, and I think his 'real' numbers would lie somewhere in between.
The goalie doesn't play alone; I think it's like comparing aardvarks and astronauts, entirely meaningless.
Facts are that he hasn't let in a bad goal yet.
guys, the reason I am saying that Labarbra will be the one to go, is because if he keeps playing like this (and I agree that he is playing above his normal game) he is worth more at the deadline than Sanford. Sanford is serviceable for 2 or 3 more games this season, and has seemed quite content for his entire career being a backup goalie. Labarbra is a starter who wants to play games and if he keeps putting up the numbers, will be worth more at deadline day.
If I had to choose, I am not sure which I would pick. Labarbra is a slightly better goalie than Sanford, but he is a starter.. would he rot and deteriorate on the bench? -- unknown. Sanford has been handed the starter role a few times in his career with different teams, and always gotten hurt doing it. he is a known comoddity as a backup (good team guy, not a distraction, etc).. If I was needing a starter, Labarbra. If I needed a back up, Sandford.
The 'Chain of Command' is the chain I am going to beat you with until you understand I am in charge.
The way I see it, if we're in a contending position and want to make a run at the playoffs, I'd want my best #2 behind Luongo. If for whatever reason Luongo conked out, got stuck on the crapper, etc, I'd want Barbie over Sanford.

Based on what I saw yesterday, I wonder THAT was the REAL "Barbie".....and if the novelty of being on a new team has worn off.
That was an absolutely disgusting effort last night. It's one of the few nights that I've genuinely felt that the fans should've been refunded for their ticket price. It was not just "Barbie" but it was almost the whole team.
Perhaps 'Barbie' is capable of playing better than Sanford but perhaps he's also capable of playing far worse. Maybe it's fair to say that Sanford is the most consistent goalie?
However - I won't pass any final judgments until a later date. Still - Barb's performance was very disturbing last night...as was the entire teams.
LaBarbera didn't lose us the game last night. If you wan't to point a finger, Mats Sundin is the one to point it at. But even still I think the team as a whole was responsible for getting outplayed. STL deserved to win that. They outplayed us the whole game. LaBarbera was maybe responsible for 2 of those goals. MAYBE.

Care to explain how Mats Sundin cost us the game? For him it's preseason and anyone who expects him to win games on his own or blames a loss him is insane. Besides, last time I checked, it's a team game and last night was a team loss. We were outshot 36-22 - and outshot badly in the 2nd and 3rd.
Lababa was AWFUL last night. He was out of position constantly, fumbling and bumbling with the puck, and spitting out rebounds like crazy.
Sundin's penalty was unfortunate, but has to be (I think) seen as an example of why the rule needs to be changed. Stick on stick contact where the other stick breaks no longer necessarily constitutes a slash. That was a stick check at worst and that bloody composite exploded.
After tonight, I would rather keep LaBarbera. Sandy is just so frustrating at times and gives up on pucks too quickly at times. Not to mention his lateral movement sucks.
parfois, je veux juste laisser tinber un coude volant sur le monde
Haha they're both backups. If we have to use them any more than twice after Luongo is back we're probably not making the playoffs.
It's pretty much a crapshoot, but I like what I've seen from Labarbera so far. He's played a couple games in a row before having a stinker, but Sanford couldn't get the upper hand on Schneider.
Keep 'em both, dosn't hurt us. They both know Luongo is the man and if the biggest controversy is who gets to wear the ballcap that night, that's a problem I'm willing to live with.

Not cool bro.
Do NOT blame Sundin who is literally going through his pre-season right now. As far as Labarbera goes...maybe I was a bit rough on the guy. It's just goes to show however what a luxury it is to have a guy like Luongo....a guy that WILL bail you out and come up with very key saves.
Hopefully, the Canucks can weather this storm until Luongo comes back.
Again I re-iterate: As shitty as the Canucks are looking right now, I do NOT want to face the Canucks in the 1st round if I'm a top 3 seed and the Canucks are somewhere between 6-8. The question however, is if they can weather the storm from now until Luongo gets back.

Mozy what colour is in yer world man. Blaming Sundin is a joke. He's not even in playing shape yet, everyone knows that.
I agree with your comments Farhan, the team needs a swift kick in the ass or a good bag skate. The tools are there but to lose to the Blues is a joke and must be changed NOW.
If I had to bet right now the Canucks have already made up their minds, its Sandman. Barbie was brought in because of Sandmans groin, once Lou is healthy they will but Barbie on waivers then down to the Moose to back up Schneider.
Keep your friends and your enemies very close
You never know when you might have to stab one
of them in the back!
Probably will come down to $$ ... neither goalie is a natural starter. LaBarbara had a couple good games.. Sandford maybe steadier but not as talented.. So , whoever costs the most ... gets the short end of the stick? We'll see in the next couple games before Lou comes back.. Sandford didn't have a great game against the Sharks... so maybe they go back to La B ? ... And the jobs still up for grabs ...
im sorry friends but sadford cost us that one. two weak ones in key times in the game, like wow the one where it floated right past him and he swiped at it and missed.......my 4 month old nefew has better hand eye then that
Rumours abound that Sanford's the oddman out and could be headed to Dallas or Columbus. This may be a good opportunity to land a winger (Modin? 2 years remaining, $3.5m) or acquire a mid-round pick.
Farhan, you have to admit that Sundin has already helped cost us two games with sloppy penalties. Being "out of shape" is not an excuse if you're playing at the pro level.
