Pave the way for a trade? I can see the Ducks putting Bryz on waivers, trading to make cap space and Niedermayer's return.

I'm very surprised that the Ducks are willing to let him go for nothing. I'm sure they're willing to gain cap space but I'm surprised that they couldn't try to at least get a draft pick in return. Or is there not a demand for Bryzgalov right now?

maybe people know burke is tight on cap space and with his team struggles he cant get a deal at all. they know he has to make a move and are holding the gun to his head.

Bryzgalov is only making US$1.36 million this season, meaning he comes for around a million for the remainder of it.
It seems to me, demand/money is less of an issue than the opportunity to pick him up via waivers, without conceding an asset.

He is also a UFA, providing teams even less incentive to give something up for him.

It tells you something about the glut of goaltenders available these days.
Expect to see Scotty N. in a Ducks jersey shortly.

Interesting comment Meers ... and very true if you look at the goalie stats ....
http://www.nhl.com/nhlstats/app?compone ... ice=direct
There are 25 goalies with an above .900 save % and 20 or so goalies with a 2.50 - 2.60 and better GAA ... alot of choice now for teams ...

I think teams are only going to take a chance on Bryzgalov on re-entry waivers.

Sabroin has played very good lately, Fleury has struggled. You never know?

Highly doubt it, Fleury is far from being replaced...he'll get loads of chances.
LA might want him if Labarbera doesn't get it together on a consistent basis.
Maybe Boston if Fernandez can't get healthy.
Florida or Phoenix? Its a tough call, most teams have their tandems in place.
Tampa Bay? Chicago?
Earlier Atlanta probably would have bitten after Lehtonen's injury but they're doing more than fine by the looks of things.

Phoenix just got him.
Too bad Bryzgalov is staying in the Western Conference.
