They did a good job with the 'Wranglers' name. Keep in mind that Las Vegas knows how to market. They know how to keep over 2 million people a month coming to town. To think that they'll come up with something stupid is underestimating them.
Also, there's a good chance that a casino group would be involved in some way. So there could be a tie in there. They've had teams both called the outlaws and bandits, the IHL team was the Thunder.
You can bet that Vegas will get the team - as I've just moved from there - I GUARANTEE IT!! The only bad part is that a lot of diehard fans there that need a hockey fix will abandon the Wranglers, and then the Wranglers will need to market more to the kids and entertainment seekers. Or they would move.
How about something like the Scorpions? (Coyotes is already taken) or something that really captures the town's new image: "The fake tits"? Anyways, any team that ends up there, has to win, or the seats will be empty.

I dont think Vegas is a good place for the NHL.... its not that they couldnt make money there because im sure they could. they could potentially have alot of tickets sold, think of how many canadians go there ... I dont think having a team in Las Vegas, the city of sin, would be a good image for the NHL. the NFL could probably thrive there lol.... i dunno, i would rather see Crosby and the gang head somewhere a little more "wholesome".....
BELIEVE.

There is no NHL sized arena in Vegas, nor is there any sign of an ownership group showing the slightest interest in moving a team there. Other than that, things are looking up for a Vegas team.
People only talk about Vegas as a possible destination for a team because it's fun to think about. The reality, however, is that a pro hockey team would have very little appeal to the locals, and the tourists who go to Vegas don't go there to see pro sports. They are there for other forms of recreation, such as gambling, drinking, and, err, "horizontal jogging". The major casinos have zero interest in seeing a big time pro sports league come to town, as every dollar that gets spent on tickets is one less dollar being spent at their tables or in their show lounges.
Vegas isn't happening, gang -- not now, not ever.

The last thing the NHL needs is an NHL team in a place where no American will give a $%^& about it. Why expand to a place where there are about a kabillion other things anyone who isn't a Canadian would rather do? Don't do it.
38 years without a Stanley Cup and counting.
