Mike Keane

Post by orts »

We haven't heard much about Mike Keane on these boards, but I think it's great that he's still playing hard and enjoying himself, wearing the C in Winnipeg... I always liked his underappreciated style of play.

Keane rocked. I always wanted him in Vancouver, too bad he came when he was old.

there was a vid on the Moose site of Keane in a really good tilt this year.
He still has some fire in the ol' belly.

Puck, you have a link to that Keane tilt?

I agree, all those pics of Messier make him look like a douche

I remember about 4 years back when he played a game for Vancouver (I can't remember who we faced). He took a sprint from the defensive zone into the attack zone
and jumped into the air to absolutely nail a player, then turned around and beat the shit out of the biggest guy who had a problem with it, got the boarding penalty and the 5 minute major for fighting. I will never forget it. Does anybody remember this, who we played, and who he beat the shit out of?

Is this the one? Kind of sounds like what you described.

Jan 25, 2004 1pd 19:25 @ VAN NAS Scott Hartnell
Comments: Mike Keane crunches Dan Hamhuis behind the net and Hartnell, who's just feet away, goes right for Keane. They drop em directly in front of the net and Keane is firing the lefts and Hartnell with rights. Some wild swinging and it's hard to tell what lands. Hartnell goes to switch hands and throw a right, which lands, but sends himself off-balance and Keane lands up on top. Other Penalties: Hartnell received an instigator, unsportsmanlike conduct (for instigating with a shield) and a misconduct; Keane a major boarding.
Voted winner: Mike Keane (70.0%) - Voted rating: 7.2

Best I can do is point you here: http://www.moosehockey.com/
under the "fan centre" banner, go to "Moose video and highlights".

then click "Game Highlights", and look down the right side for Nov 7.
it was against Darryl Bootland, who looked to be about a foot taller than Keane.
Keane kicked his ass.

and now I believe that Keane has been named the captain of the Canadian side of the All-Star game (AHL)
