Looking forward to Friday
I'm looking forward to Friday's game.
The proposed lines are what I was originally expecting when the roster was first announced.
It will be interesting to see if they work.
Regular Lines
Naz, Mo & Cooke ...it worked before when their backs were up against the wall; maybe it can again.
Twins & Bulles...it's put up or shut up time for Jan. I hope he finally delivers.
Burrows, Kesler & Linden...my all time favorite Canuck along with two more recent favorites. If Linden could just find a youth serum...
Chouinard, Santala & Bouck... low expectations so they shouldn't disappoint.
Power Play
Twins & Linden...Trevor has the heart and smarts to stand in front...hopefully he can rediscover the hands and can get a couple of points
Naslund, Chouinard & Bulis...I have no idea what to expect but, then again, neither does Carolina .
I'm confidant that AV has good reasons for the line juggling to date but, since these are very much like the lines I would put together as an armchair coach...
Win or lose, it will be fun to see how it works out.

Don't know if I can bear the agony of watching another game.
Even if they win 2-1, there's no entertainment value in this brand of hockey.
Hope management realizes the season ticket and sellout run will dry up if they keep playing like this, win or lose.
I'd be pretty surprised to see the season ticket base dry up seriously. We are a hockey crazy city.
But onto the topic yes I'm excited too. My one fault of AV through this has been his reluctance to split Naslund and the twins lately. Bulis needs to realize this is probably his last shot in Vancouver before he gets traded or waived

I wouldn't call it sadism or masochism, just a little grasping at straws, finding ways of enjoying the game.
Fans often lament this team's lack of depth.
The truth is...the same could be said of many hockey fans.
There is far more depth to the game of hockey than the final score.
Putting the puck in the net is important but mostly because it lengthens the season
Win or lose, as long as they give it an effort, I'm pretty happy to watch good hockey.
Last years anemic effort was painful and frustrating to watch.
This year I'm still enjoying watching an admittedly less skilled, but far more motivated, team give it everything they've got.
Burrows and Kesler are flying whether they score goals or not.
I hope they score to reward that level of effort but I'm still sitting up straight every time they're on the ice ... goal or not.. that's good hockey.
The twins remain the best puck control specialists in the game. It often results in a scoring chance, finished or not...That's good hockey.
The Canucks aren't playing the European trap. The effectiveness of the team's defence is based primarily on aggresive fore checking and back checking. That's good hockey.
So, yes. They certainly do lack goal scoring ability. That is a fundamental flaw...but only one.
If they can find a way of scoring more goals, without losing what they've gained over last year, we may make it beyond the regular season in spite of everything else.
In the post season, anything could happen.
Luongo could brick over the goal mouth...Pyatt could become a monster...Trevor could become young again...who knows?
All things considered, I'm OK with that.
...and still looking forward to tonight's game.
It's good hockey.

"winning isn't everything. It's the only thing"
Wasn't it Lombardi who said that? I don't quite understand those who have their gitch in a knot over the lack of "entertainment" in our current style of play.
Maybe I'm in the minority, but 10 times out of 10 I would rather win the ugliest game imagineable than consistently lose 5-4, 6-5, and be flashy but go home empty.
Do we need to score more? Obviously. It's a little deflating watching another team score a third goal, and worrying that no matter what time of the game it is, we already out of it, but its more an issue of winning than entertainment for me.
A win is a win. And for hardcore fans, losses suck no matter how fun they are to watch (just ask fans of the New Jersey Nets how they feels after coming out on the short end of Steve Nash last night).

Whoa! I remember going to Canucks games around 1985 when there were (no lie) 8,500 people there. It's happened once, it could happen again. Those who don't learn from history...Icebreaka wrote:I'd be pretty surprised to see the season ticket base dry up seriously. We are a hockey crazy city.
