Thought I'd ask a thought-provoking question. Who is Tommy Santala? Exactly why is he on the team since he spends most of his time getting nosebleeds from sitting in the press box? He doesn't seem to be a scorer. He doesn't seem to be a tough guy. He apparently can win faceoffs. Who is this guy and why should I care?

He's the guy who is going to use Chouinard's numbers to get a contract extension and a raise from Nonis, who in turn is going to use Matt Cooke's numbers, who will then point to Morrison to pull in three million, who will then compare his goal production to Daniel Sedin to resign a three and a half million, who will then point to his position in the draft and the fact his brother is a center on the first line with Naslund to get six million, and Vancouver fans will then accept the explanation that it takes at least thirty years to build a contender. Whew!
I recall that it was said that Nonis was going to waive Santala and call up Rypien when he's healthy, I hope that's still the case but if Rypien is injured, I'd just as soon call up Reid. I know the guy has issues finishing, but he's got to have more ability to spark something than Santala, gives coaches a different dimension.

I just don't understand what this guy brings to the team. I'd rather see a Rypien who is tough and will stir things up or even a Brandon Reid (once he gets his game together in Manitoba) because of his speed and finesse. Santala doesn't do anything for me.MarkMM wrote:I recall that it was said that Nonis was going to waive Santala and call up Rypien when he's healthy, I hope that's still the case but if Rypien is injured, I'd just as soon call up Reid. The guy is pretty useless. He reminds me of SRsez when he's at the deep-fryer.
