we will we will suck you! suck you!

Post by BingoTough »

let me start by saying I following teh canucks from London (not ontario). Games are at 4 in the morning and there are no radio or tv highlights.

Our team sounds terrible this year. Our forwards have sucked harder than a starving newborn, while flarhety has hartly distinguished himslef as a valid sh!t (No. 2).

A bunch of nobodies on 1 way contracts, with no offensive flair, no toughness, no chance of a cup.

Seriously, how do we win a cup with this team?

?
?
?

We can't --> implication: we have the wrong team!!!

Nonis has either buggered up, got stuck with lousy contracts, or both. I vote door #3

Should our boys make the finals I will spend the dough to fly to vancouver and watch us win gloriously in the finals. I'll even fund a night out with cc regulars.

Sadly, I bet my money is safe.

It's not like the last core we had was going anywhere. I don't think this is a cup winning team either, but with a bit of patience and some luck, we could be in 3 or 4 years. Sure some of the contracts sound nuts, but there is a good chance that 3.5 mill for Daniel and Henrik will look mighty cheap in two years time...

This is worth tacking on the ol' CC bulletin board, just in case we're able to swing that Pyatt for Kovalchuk trade at the deadline.

Um, Nonis has put in place a core that has talent and potential, and will grow stronger into a contender in the years to come. We've got a goalie that will possibly be the NHL's best when Brodeur retires, signed below the league max long-term, Ohlund and Mitchell are here for another few years and both can be among the NHL's best shut-down guys, Ohlund has offensive potential and Krajicek has the upside to be dangerous offensively, Bourdon can be a strong two-way defenseman in a few years; Salo is here for another year, providing solid two-way play, and Bieksa will provide cheap but reliable ice-time and some toughness.

Up front, we've got blossoming stars in the Sedins signed long-term, Naslund is a superstar playing below the league max for a couple more years, Morrison is not a star but is a two-way, fast, hard-working player that is tailor-made for today's NHL, that's something to work with, Chouinard was brought in along with Santala to improve on last year's attrocious face-off record, both are big and defensively reliable, Kesler is big, fast, hard working, defensively responsible with unknown offensive upside who is only being overpaid because we got screwed with...

All in all, Nonis took a team that had a broken core and put in place the pieces to be a contender in a few years. If a few things swing our way (Bourdon plays comfortably and Krajicek steps it up, one or more of Bulis, Cooke, Pyatt or Kesler step it up offensively), the Canucks could arrive as playoff challengers even sooner.

Do we have holes? Yes. Is there any other team that doesn't? Nope.

Nonis is doing fine.

Canucks fan living in Kent.
You can watch some Nucks live games and highlights on NASN on Sky for £14.99 a month and listen to live commentary via CKNW`s website.

As for the team, well what`s new? We have won bugger all with half decent squads and i expect we`ll win bugger all with this one but that`s the joy of supporting the Nucks just as it is supporting the Yids (Tottenham Hotspur Football Club).

Nice to meet another Spurs fan on a Canucks site. (although I'm more of a United Fan )
I'm so used to supporting promising teams that go belly up when it counts that I am now officially numb to it. Oh well, there's always next year for everything.

The Stanley Cup is full of teams that weren't "cup contenders" in the pre season.

you should really watch what you say.... a couple hundred bucks for airfare out of my pocket in exchange for a night on the town out of your pocket is a super good deal to me... and I am only one person. You have no idea what you just offered to pay for :)
The 'Chain of Command' is the chain I am going to beat you with until you understand I am in charge.

Cheers to a fellow Canuck/Hotspur fan! (Although the only reason I support Tottenham is because of the same reason you just referred to them as the 'Yids'... i.e. my own ethnicity, and the dislike I have for what that leads to from opposing fans).

Exactly.
Look at Anahiem being big underdogs a couple years back.
Last years playoffs in the east, team 1-4 got knowcked out leaveing teams 5-8.

You cannot make such a harsh statement abuot the Canucks when they havn't even played a regular season game, I dotn care what is says on paper.

So? What's wrong with being the underdog. I saw a Nazzy interview last night and he said he knows they are underdogs and the pressure is off. Especially from last year.

Of course the canucks can win. Just gotta hit hard dig in the corners score goals and not abandon their goaltender !! Same as every other team, I know, but if I didn't think the canucks would win I'd spend all the cold winter nights in Northern BC downloading cyberporn and practicing my own stick handling

Between this thread and Pratts burning questions thread, I have a question...

Would it be possible to perhaps get through, I dunno, 10 games or so before we write off this team? Maybe see the team as a whole and see how they play?

Yes, we don't have last years team on paper. Yes, we're missing some of our biggest point getters (Bertuzzi, Carter). Yes, we lost a little big of depth on D.

But we also got a top netminder, a very decent shutdown defenseman (Mitchell) and we still have 2/3rds of our top 2 lines. We still have one of the best players in the NHL (Naslund) and one of the great agitators in the game (Cooke) who, if he can stay healthy during practice this season, can even pot some goals.

Can we at least see how Alain Vigneault is going prep the team and keep them movtivated?

Holy crap guys. I expected a little more from the "fans" of this team.

BingoTough is jumoing to conlcusions WAYYY to fast. we havn't even seen their line-up in a game yet, so, how can you make all those comments? As said above, let them play about 10 games and tehn o have fun writing them off with your other non-true Canucks fans. The real fans will still be there watching... :towel:
