Canucks Preseason - 2022

Post by Cornuck »

I figure the games can be discussed here starting here with tonight's split squad.

Here are the lineups:

In Calgary:

Split squad games are usually a big mess. That Calgary line up looks down right scary if it was the ECHL. :D

But it's a good chance for the kids to make some impressions.

11-6 Canucks, combined score.
The Cup is soooooo ours!!!!!!!

yeah - it won't be pretty, but hopefully the coaches can find out early in the pre-season who needs to be cut.

Hoglander needs to have a great game to separate himself from the farm team.

Those aren’t the lines. They just listed the players in numerical order. The lines should be something like:

Kuzmenko Pettersson Mikheyev
Garland Horvat Podkolzin
Di Giuseppe Dries Lockwood
Focht Sheppard Arseneau

Dekeyser Myers
Rathbone Schenn
Kalynuk Woo

Martin
Silovs

Top players not playing today:

Pearson Miller Boeser
OEL Hughes
Demko

Also surprisingly Poolman?

Someone else can figure out the other game which is basically 4th liners, bottom pairings and AHLers.

Really looking forward to seeing the Pettersson line with the Russians and the Rathbone-Schenn pairing in game action. Also, hoping for a good showing from Lockwood and Woo.

Players to keep a eye on:

Hoglander, Klimovich, Nielsen, Lockwood.

Rathbone-Schenn pairing.
Dekeyser (trynna earn a contract)
Woo (see how he's developing)
Keeper (don't know much about him, we signed him and his leg broke in training camp)

Keeper:
He has good size and reach, though he needs to add some strength to be most effective in his own zone.

Plays an aggressive style and is a fierce competitor. Still a project.

Long Range Potential: Raw, aggressive depth defenseman

Coach Bruce:
Boudreau pregame on what he expects from younger players. “See what they retained from what we've tried to show them in Whistler for three days, and how they take direction. You add that into the effort and then you see if you've got something maybe for the future.”

DeKeyser gets a puck to the head. Ominous start for an injury prone guy.
