The Miller watch this season shall be

I predict it’s New Jersey in the end
“Tyler Myers is my guy... I was taking to Scotty Bowman last night and he was bringing up his name, and saying he’s a big guy and big guy need big minutes to play, he is playing great for ya… and I agree with him… He’s been exceptional” - Bruce Boudreau

I haven’t said whether I like this administration. I do know that the moron who had the job is gone.

If these guys fuck shit up I’ll be all over them. Their first big play is JT

You and chef have been alternating for the past 20+ years so it's pretty safe to assume it'll continue

That said...I have no feeling on how these guys will work things. It's been pretty slow so far but maybe that's a sign of careful methodical team building which can go either way.

Ya I agree... JT will be where they make or break their future in Vancouver I reckon

It will part of their legacy, for sure - but I don't think it will make or break it. Miller wants more dollar and term than the team is willing to give right now. Fair enough - no rush. Maybe Miller has a better season and expects more (better trade bait as well) - maybe he falls back to PPG or less and the team has better bargaining power then.

If you were GM, would you trade him at the deadline if the team is playoff bound? Do you milk him for all you can during the playoffs and try to sign him of the season? Do you trade his rights for a conditional 2nd? Do you let him walk? Maybe the cap goes up next year and you can afford to pay him what he's asking? Do you sign him to a retirement contract?

There's no easy answer here - so I think if we don't get max value for JT, it will be because we held on to him for a reason - and hopefully that reason is the WCF.

Corn, that's an interesting angle in light of the comments Daly made today.
NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly is optimistic the salary cap can get a significant boost after the 2023-24 season -- a year ahead of earlier forecasts from the league.

"I’ve seen some preliminary estimates recently which would make me more optimistic on the cap gong up sooner whether that’s in two seasons or three seasons, I think it’s more likely than not two seasons rather than three," Daly said in an interview with Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek from European Media Day on Wednesday.

Daly said revenue projections for the 2022-23 season are "very solid" -- meaning the cap bump could come ahead of schedule.
With only Pettersson up after 2023/24, and Myers coming off the books, it may change how the Canucks approach the numbers with Miller. They'll also have another $2.4 million of Holtby/Virtanen dead cap gone after this coming season. Still a gamble, but do they take it?
