Gmail Amnesty for 48 hours
Hey - all you lurkers out there. I know that some people might have trouble signing up because we have to ban a LOT email domains, including Gmail. I know I usually use mine for generic sign up stuff as well.
For the next 48 hours, I will un-ban Gmail.com / yahoo.com / yahoo.ca , so if you want to sign up, go for it. We will still be monitoring the new users and deleting any we feel are not legit (based on country, name, etc) - so if you decide to register, please comment in this thread and let us know you're a real person and not a bot / spammer.

Jump in, we're not dangerous....

74 guests currently active.... they can't all be potential foreign brides, right? Might a hockey fan or 2 around?

Your idea has merit.
I know when I showed back up last year, after GMail and a couple of other similar domains wouldn't let me sign back in, I almost didn't bother.
And look how much better y'all are because I went the extra mile.....

We appreciate that effort, Donnie - and really, it's the ones who MAKE that effort that belong and thrive here.

Corn, like Donny indicated. If we don’t allow Gmail or Yahoo what other options are there?
I probably wouldn’t be bothered to join at all if those accounts don’t work.
Re: Gmail Amnesty for 48 hours
I'd like to allow them - but the number of bots that sign up and spam the place gets pretty crazy. If we get any signups this time around, I'll open it up a little more often.

Corn, is there a reason for Proton mail addresses not being accepted?
Re: Gmail Amnesty for 48 hours
As a general rule, I ban the 'bulk' email domains (eg: *@gmail.com) when the bots hit. I really don't have to work on deleting, banning, etc over and over - so I just ban the IP, ban the email domain and move on. Many of the Canadian ones don't get banned.Curmudgeon wrote: ↑Fri Aug 05, 2022 1:24 pm Corn, is there a reason for Proton mail addresses not being accepted?
I've seen about 30-40 bots sign up today - they all take time to check out, make sure they're not legit, check the IP location, ban the IP, delete the user, and repeat.
It's been a day and no new (legit) users have signed up.

...I meant lame that no one has signed up actually.

Ok - just checking - and yes, that is lame.
