I remember one of Schmidt's early complaints when he got here was there was no real system. A reporter asked him a question about playing the systems or some such thing. So that would have been under Green. So this idea of systems problems goes back a long way where some players were confused or didn't know what was expected of them. Perhaps Bruce has just simplified it? And that makes it look there is no system?

To add to that Paul Maurice rumour...

So, would Jets fans say his systems were structured, consistent and sound? From what I see, the GM did a great job early on in drafting players year after year that made the big squad. Everyone saw that they had quality regulars and depth in most positions and yet... they underachieved year after year.

Why do they struggle so much? Bad structure? Bad systems? Good systems but lousy motivator? D-corp not good or deep? Forwards? Why does their goalie get bombarded so regularly with that lineup?

Just throwing that out there.

Yeah, for sure. 32-15-9 with the same lineup isn't just pulling magic out of your ass either.

Last night I saw 2 teams play, one finished the season with 110 points and the other 103 irrespective of the fact that one of the games top players/leaders missed a bunch of games.

So presumably 2 solid hockey teams front to back.

Shots were 83-68 through 105 minutes so average of what 16 - 13 per period?

And the chances were solid and the goalies were great.

Like I keep saying I don't watch enough hockey to know but is the skill and pace just so high in this league that plentiful shots and great chances are not a factual rarity?

Yeah, like you've sarcastically allude to before, we're the only team in the league that needs good and spectacular goaltending on a regular basis. We must be the only team in the league to give up high-quality chances.

Sometimes I think everyone in Van, from fans to media to the organization itself has such low self-esteem that they can't see the good stuff on this team. Our grass is never green enough.

I was considering that there are fine strains that are red and purple as well. Careful consideration was necessary

Plus a top end coach will recognize his weaknesses and adapt (Travis...you listening boy?) or they will find themselves elsewhere rapidly....

Guys a great coach and a good shit to boot.

Hope he wins his Cup here....
That's what I saw creeping back in - adaptability and creativity. Hughes has it, Horvat and Miller have developed it, Petey got it back by the end of the year, and Boeser and OEL seem to have lost it.

At the start of this year under green, I only saw it from Hughes and Garland.

Boeser was on pace to score 40 goals as a rookie - he innately knew how to create offence, and it wasn't thanks to Green's system or nice outlet passes or "solid 200' game" with hard backchecks.

I think they are a better team than what green thought he was coaching, and I think Boudreau was able to figure that out.

...is there a logical JT Miller Jersey trade out there for us? (Or Garland, or Boeser).

I believe I recall SKYO and AP (??) discussing a couple of age representative, potential fits for Vancouver on their NHL roster.

Fitzgerald is willing to toss his # 1 in apparently/allegedly.

Does an 8.5% chance for a Shane Wright come with any intrinsic value beyond the worth of a 2022 5th overall?

Not if it's the Canucks with that 8.5%
