...apparently if he's jumping in it will be a while.
"WAH WAH WAH!!!"
Remember when Gary Smith punted the puck down the ice? He used to work at the track at Exhibition Park, maybe he still does, and I saw him pretty frequently around the general area for years. He was also the first player I ever saw in street clothes, sitting in a virtually empty upper bowl at a Blazers game, and we were just kids running around up there. He actually chatted with us for about a good 15 minutes or so, wish we had camera phones back then.donlever wrote: ↑Tue Dec 07, 2021 4:25 pm Were Suitcase Smith to have played equal games to Lou he'd have 26 shutouts (mathematically speaking).
Impressive for the era he played in and second only to Roberto all time as far as Canucks go.
Eccentricities?
Gary wore (allegedly) up to a dozen pairs of socks for additional padding under his skates.
He was also nicked Axe due to his propensity for swinging his stick at opponents around his cage.
Undressed, took a cold shower and geared back up between every period (including new socks).

After the hideous comments out of your big flapper. Out of nowhere I might add.
"hideous comment"
First time I saw Suitcase was when he lugged the puck to center ice playing for the leaves. The crowd went nuts and a legend was born. Was pretty stoked when we acquired him and he was phenomenal for us in the nets. Good times.Curmudgeon wrote: ↑Tue Dec 07, 2021 7:56 pmRemember when Gary Smith punted the puck down the ice? The 74/75 season was unreal, he actually got Hart Trophy votes and was a serious contender. First time in the playoffs and I got to go to the very first home game against the Habs.
