Re: WTF is up with Pettersson? (Poll)
Yeah, we were all expecting that kind of improvement in offence after the summer of moves. We saw some of Shaw's new defensive and breakout systems in preseason and the first few games.
As soon as we lost a bunch of tight games (ahem, special teams), Green unexpectedly reverted back to the turtle shell.
Pettersson's early struggles was not a surprise considering him missing camp, but again, the huge upgrade in results from coaching is beyond telling.

No question and splitting up Horvat and Pearson, which Green was loath to do, has proven to be a great move as both are much better with the lines they're currently playing on.Cousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 3:51 pmThe players hate having a coach juggle lines constantly.Curmudgeon wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 2:39 pmHe does Mëds, and Boudreau's coaching and style of play along with having Garland and Pod as consistent linemates is perfect timing all around.

That's a great observation, and it's especially the case if Pettersson can continue to have games like last night, where he was also dominant on faceoffs going 68.8% while taking the most draws on the team.Lancer wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 3:56 pmHaving linemates who can both make plays and shoot the puck helps. The difference between this line and the old Lotto Line is the difference between Garland and Boeser. Garland is the better playmaker and digger while Boeser is the better shooter. Podkolzin does a lot of what Miller does - just not as well. Having Podkolzin and Garland meshing with Pettersson now really allows BB to deploy Miller at centre - though I still like him better as a power winger. I don't think the Lotto Line needs to reunite at all to get Petey going.Curmudgeon wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 2:39 pmHe does Mëds, and Boudreau's coaching and style of play along with having Garland and Pod as consistent linemates is perfect timing all around.

I love the lines Boudreau has out together, absolutely love them, combined with him not doing the Green and endlessly changing his lines throughout the game, so effing refreshing. Green is not NHL head coach material

I feel like Vigneault started to do that towards the end of his tenure as well, with his theory that "everything in the NHL should come down to pairs of players, not lines".Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Fri Dec 17, 2021 10:31 am I love the lines Boudreau has out together, absolutely love them, combined with him not doing the Green and endlessly changing his lines throughout the game, so effing refreshing. Like with Green, it seems like another example of overthinking things when the simplest solution - allow a line to develop chemistry with consistent time and opportunity - is actually the best solution.

Best moves
- Removing Pearson from Horvat and putting him with Boeser and Miller. Awesome line
- putting the “ future” together- Pod and Petey with Ronning Jr (Garland) awesome
- putting Miller back at centre creating the top 9 we’ve cried for
- putting more quickness with Bo (Dick n Hog)

Rolling four lines more equally, is the ticket to success. The personnel to do it were already there. Whats ya say, Not smiling now, I'll bet.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Fri Dec 17, 2021 10:57 am Best moves

I don't think he's rolling 4 so much as 3 with an occasional 4th line shiftMicky wrote: ↑Fri Dec 17, 2021 12:39 pmRolling four lines more equally, is the ticket to success. Re: WTF is up with Pettersson? (Poll)
Why the hell would you roll a line with Chiasson, Dowling/Lammikko, Motte equally with the other 3? That would be the opposite of success.

Gomer must've dreamt they're rolling 4 lines...

Maybe he actually saw them roll 3 but had 4 steaks and got confused.
DeLevering since 1999.
Re: WTF is up with Pettersson? (Poll)
He's been using all four lines. Is using and rolling different? Whatever, the team seems to like the change.
