I figured the holdup wasn't the AAV, it was getting a weird structure - similar to the Boeser holdup.Micky wrote: ↑Sun Oct 03, 2021 8:16 amSo now we know how!Darren Dreger@DarrenDreger

I'll bet they've been at this number for over a month, and have been nibbling around the edges on the QO size.

Good! When?Rick Dhaliwal @DhaliwalSports
Agent JP Barry - “A lengthy process & both sides tried to make several different terms work. With the cap room available, this is what made sense for everyone in the end.
Quinn & Elias worked very hard on and off the ice in Michigan to make sure they are ready to rejoin team.”

Re: When do Petey and Quinn get signed? (poll)
The new rules for the QO made that part a little easier I think. Maximum is what120% of the average? Under Brock it was based upon the final year. So the structure for Petey wasn't as critical this time around as much as the bottom line. A QO of 8.55 for him is really alright. If he hasn't lived up to it in three years then we know. If he has lived up to it then we have a good starting number to negotiate a new deal. Even if that negotiation takes all year. And if he grabs that number and holds out for FA then we at least know the number for year 4.
The only HW the Canucks need
Re: When do Petey and Quinn get signed? (poll)
Benning: It was an interesting process. Spent a lot of time talking to Pat every couple days in August... The talks really ramped up here this last week when we started camp and they weren't here. They're two important guys to our group. We're happy to get them signed.
We worked at it all summer. Would have been nice to get it done before camp, that didn't happen. Happy we got it done now.
The landscape has changed a little bit with the RFA players coming out of their entry level deals wanting, expecting more money.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.
Re: When do Petey and Quinn get signed? (poll)
***** Full ten minute press conference with Jim Benning today covering all things Canucks as it stands today.10-min.
--Sutter to miss start of season
-No timeline on Motte
-Boeser out for at least the rest of the pre-season
-Club close to 100% vaccinated. Benning previously guaranteed they would be by the start of the regular season.

****.Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes speak to the media after the announcement of both their re-signings..9:51 min.
Quinn Hughes: Not easy being at home the last week. Glad we can put that behind us and be here now.
"I think that this is the best roster we've had in the three years I've been here, I think we have a really good team and I wanted to be here."
Pettersson on new additions: I'm really excited. Our team is looking really good. All those guys are good players and bring a lot to the team. I'm excited to get started and get to the season
"I'm in good shape, I'm ready to get back with the team and be around the team again, I'm just happy to be back."

Re: When do Petey and Quinn get signed? (poll)
Definitely true, but the other interesting part of the structure is avoiding the COVID-escrow - back-loading to when escrow is great reduced. So funny how the agents and GMs adapt to new league circumstances whenever there's a change.Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Sun Oct 03, 2021 11:52 am The new rules for the QO made that part a little easier I think.
