Not if they add a contract with it (Pearson. Myers) could also be packaged with a player like Bo or Brock or JTCousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 9:21 am Can't see it. They have no space to add salary anyway so if move is to be made it'll be a roster player

Re: 2022 Draft Class
I can see the Islanders looking for a shakeup here and might be open to a trade but unless Pettersson is going thataway....you aren't prying Barzal outta there
Would you consider Pettersson Myers and the 1st (lottery protected) for Barzal and Pulock...or Mayfield....or Dobson?

Again, giving up on Petey now could be a disastrous mistake

What if you're replacing him with Barzal though?Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 10:23 am Again, giving up on Petey now could be a disastrous mistake
MB is from Van, plays with passion and has a very comparable upside

Still wouldn’t. You win with skill, special skill. Petey has alien talent, can turn a game around, he needs some maturing. The Sedins will set him straight. I’d do Horvat for Barzal insteadCousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 10:29 amWhat if you're replacing him with Barzal though?Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 10:23 am Again, giving up on Petey now could be a disastrous mistake

For clarity sake I was not suggesting trade Hughes.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 8:27 amChill, Mëds…chillMëds wrote: ↑Sat Nov 27, 2021 4:31 pmExcept for Petey. He's not a core piece. There's something there that screams elite support player, but not leadership quality.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Sat Nov 27, 2021 11:16 am If there is a toxicity in the room they need to jettison it asap so it doesn’t infect Pod, Hog, Dem, Petey and Hughes. Those 5 are your core moving forward. Petey isn’t a problem, he’s in a rut, the kid has too much talent and smarts to give up on.
Hughes as well is an elite talent but doesn't strike me as being a leader.

Are we 30th now or 29? The Islanders will pick it up and so might the Senators. Looks like a Coyotes and Canucks death match. We need and deserve Shane Wright. The Yotes deserve a kick in the nuts with a frozen gum boot

I just checked and it seems like there are still four or five teams below us in the standings. I know, I was surprised too.Vin Tanner wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 7:41 pm Are we 30th now or 29? Seattle has finally overtaken us though. Didn't expect that rivalry to heat up this soon...

Re: 2022 Draft Class
If Aqua didn’t let benning make the coaching change that everybody knew needed to happen, I doubt he’s letting him do anything at this point. What I don’t get though is why let benning make these off-season moves to drastically improve the team (at least on paper), but not let him try and light a fire under their asses with a coaching change, green should have been gone after the first home stand. Instead it’s a wasted season with an even more pissed off group of players.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 8:51 am I agree, but the stars will never align for us to land the 1st overall. It’s the just how it is with the Canucks
That being said don’t get too cozy with our 2022 1st round pick, it could be dealt

Barzal is a player. His skating is top tier. He's a playmaker. He has bought in to a Trotz system despite being a more offensively gifted player. Guy I work with played junior when Barzal was 14-15 and said Barzal would come play with them in the summer and that even then the kid was on another level. Same guy see's Petey as a 2nd line guy.....essentially the Canucks version of what William Nylander is to Matthews and Tavares. So he might score you 60-70 points, but he's not going to lead you anywhere, and he's not going to be a consistent game changer when you really need it.
