The weakest link is the bottom 6. If the jake, gaudette and frenchie can contribute we can win. Now that we've got an NHL defense (finally...fuck!) this is where we need to see the most improvement

Given recent events, there's a chance Calgary might pick him up.
Shit they might grab all 6
Not a chance the flames pick Eriksson or anyone else at this point.
unfortunate, he and Lucic could be 2/3rds of wonderful 4th line
Lucic has played well for the Flames, even though he is vastly overpaid. I guess that's what happens when you have to get rid of Neal, who is absolutely useless.
How’s Milan’s skating these days. Is the sheet of ice he skates starting to pull away from him yet?
I haven't seen him play this year yet, but he was never a fast skater.

Interesting - Benning must think there is some advantage to keeping DiPietro up with the club.

It's maybe counter-intuitive, but I'm sure DiPietro and Clark had a lot of input in the decision. I guess the plan is to sacrifice playing time in the AHL, but gain NHL practice time and substantial one-on-one time with Clark.

I suppose it's also true that the only possible way for DiPietro to get any NHL game action is to be on the taxi squad. If he's in the AHL, he will be virtually impossible to call-up.

Benn will be around for the same reason he was originally signed, toughness. He doesn't need to win a fight, just be willing to stand up for teammates.

With the mini playoff series of a season. Chippy rivalries and fueds will develop and having guys to answer will be key. Every once in a while, a heavy lineup will be needed and there aren't that many in the regular lineup.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

No there certainly isn't. Looking over the division lineups, I'd say van has the smallest/least physical group. Shit, even Montreal will be pushing van around.

The powerplay better be money

Benn will be useful. No-way he doesn't get plenty of games this year. So far as heated rivalries go, I doubt we get pushed around as much as some of the medias are spewing. Much will depend on how the officiating has been instructed by the league to call the games. TIGHT is what I predict. Even if it's no different, the Canucks emerging Canucks, were very dangerous on the power-play. I see no reason to think, it wont be even better this year.
I'm not really worried we'll be pushed all over the Canadian division. One biggy though; This team has to use it's speed and not take cheap hookking and interference calls. Plenty is on Green and how he manages the match-ups. I think he grew as a coach last year and learned some valuable
lessons in the playoffs.

Interesting that neither Michaelis nor Rathbone are on this. Must be on the taxi squad.

Cherry Picker wrote: Tue Jan 12, 2021 6:49 am Predicting the taxi squad is tough. It depends if they want the best players available or will they consider their development too important to keep them up. Considering the AHL doesn’t start for a while, some of the prospects might have a better chance of sticking around. The last three players on the roster are likely Benn, Chatfield, and McEwen. Then they probably want each position on the taxi squad:

1. RD Rafferty
2. LD Rathbone This is the hardest choice. If one of the top three LD get injured long term, you’d think they’d want Rathbone in over Benn. I guess they could play Benn for the duration of a quarantine, but that would not be optimal. In my mind Benn is behind Chatfield, Rathbone, and Rafferty on the depth chart.
3. C Michaelis, or they could go with Graovac. Michaelis outplayed Graovac at camp. This is another case of development in Utica or need for depth?
4. RW Bailey
5. LW Hawryluk
6. Last spot: Loui’s last stand? Baertschi? Or Sautner?

It should be an interesting day.
Updating Taxi Squad prediction:

1. RD Rafferty
2. LD Rathbone
3. C Michaelis
4. RW Bailey
5. LW Hawryluk
6. Last spot: Loui’s last stand? Baertschi? Or Sautner? Or Graovac?

They need to carry a 3rd goalie though, doesn't that take up a taxi squad place?

Not sure if posted yet, but apparently Hamonic's contract is 1 year at 1.2 mil. I am happy with that.
