Jason Gregor (TSN)

You have to have three goalies at every game. NHL rule this season.

Taxi squad MUST have a goalie and he has to go on every road trip.
So no zamboni goalie subs or emergency call-ups from universities etc for covid safety.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Based on what? Even if some of those guys are on the taxi squad, they are lacking a goalie.
Michael DiPietro will be the 3rd Goalie. It said in the beginning teams are required to carry three.
So Mikey's not going to play this year?

That right there is genius goaltender development on the part of Jimbo. Pure genius.
Not sure I follow your logic, Meg. Mikey should get in a handful of games this season as the 3rd stringer, assuming he stays up the whole time. Plus, he will likely dress for a fair number of games when they are truly resting either Holtby or Demko. With the compresses schedule, I can see Green resting either guy if they have even a minor twinge. Throw in an extra 2 weeks of practice that he will get with the big boys (since Utica's camp is at least 2 weeks away), and the mentoring of our NHL goalie coach, and I think that this can be a good opportunity to work on Mikeys game. Given what the 2021 season is looking like, I don't think there is really a clear good/bad choice for Mikey. He should get more playing time in Utica, but he will get better coaching and practices in Vancouver, an his playing time will also be of a higher quality.

I could easily see a combination of the 2. If the vaccine rolls out quickly, we might have quarantine times either reduced, or eliminated, and maybe Mikey goes to Utica at the end of February or March.
Oh I doubt we'll be using three goalies Teiso.

Might he dress as a backup for some games, sure. Play? Doubtful imvho

Oh it's true...
It's hard to remember, but the biggest hockey-related obsession at the time of the NHL's pause was EBUGs (emergency backup goaltenders). David Ayres, the 42-year-old Zamboni driver turned Canes savior, made his remarkable NHL appearance just three weeks before the season was paused.

The availability of goalies became an even more heightened concern for this coming season -- again, with call-ups becoming trickier.

Because of this, the NHL stipulated that teams must carry three goalies this season between their active roster and the taxi squad. If the third goalie is on the taxi squad, he'll be the only taxi squad player required to travel to all of the team's away games.

New goalie requirement:

As Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston reported on Sunday morning, teams will be required to have three total goalies between its active roster and taxi squad throughout the season.

I am fairly sure the goalie doesnt count as a taxi sqaud slot and that you can have as many as you want available to you. The minimum of 3 is true though

I cant look it up right now though...if I'm wrong i will accept

ESPN saying similar.

Four to six players, must include a goaltender if three are not on the regular roster.

I remember them saying six skaters not including goalies, but maybe that was wrong, and someone else needs to be sent down.

Brendan Batchelor @BatchHockey
Travis Green says that Miller, Benn and Hawryluk were all unavailable today. He’s “not sure” if they will travel to Edmonton with the team.
Maybe it's all fine tomorrow morning? If Miller was to not travel with the team, would he miss all four road games? Probably just resting,
Hoglander, Horvat, Hughes, Pettersson and Boeser were working on PP drills today.

2021 - year of the groin. Anyone over 25 will have issues playing every game.
But the NHL may learn why they’ve never used a baseball schedule before.

So looking over the taxi squad rules, it looks like we get cap relief for Louie at the same level we would if he was assigned to the AHL. So we can park his ass on the taxi squad all season.
The only HW the Canucks need

Yes, I thought that was what you meant by the minimal relief.
