Canucks Training Camp 2021

Post by Per »

So, it should start today with players taking the ice at 10 am pacific.

Anyone have any insight into anything?
Guess there won't be any open practices with people allowed in to watch this year...
But still.

I want to know what's happening! Damn.

Well, at least we're getting closer to puck drop. :|

Pretty easy to guess what will happen today. Green will talk a bit, yell a bit, do some battle drills and end practise with a bag skate. We’ll get a report on who puked later today. My money is on Hoglander.

Green said there will be four scrimmages with a couple full simulation games during camp.
I was thinking about the defensive pairings I’d like to see early in the scrimmages.

Team Blue
Woo Hughes
Rafferty Edler
Chatfield Sautner

Team White
Schmidt Juolevi
Myers Rathbone
Benn Brisebois

Harmonic’s in quarantine to start. Hopefully Green experiments with the young players for one game, but he will need to get down to his top eight defensemen pretty quick. The first game against Edmonton will come up quick. With no preseason games, it will be extremely difficult for prospects to earn a spot out of camp. They’ll want Rathbone and Woo in Utica instead of in the press box or the taxi squad. Pretty easy to guess the season starts with:

Myers Hughes
Schmidt Edler
Hamonic Juolevi

Spares: Rafferty Benn

Chatfield, Sautner, and Brisebois on the taxi squad.
We are all Jim Benning.

Virtanen will be on very thin ice he better have shown up to camp in shape, this is his best chance to break into the top 6.

Expect to see a new JV, comes in at a good weight and ready to make the top 6.

Have a good camp. Show you belong in that top six. Don't annihilate any of your team-mates to show you can hit. Don't give any dirty looks at Green.

His main issue is lacking 'hockey sense'. Hes too entitled to grind in the bottom 6 yet never in the right position to compliment a scoring line.

Lets hope the pump and dump is a success

A Rathbone-Hamonic pairing would be interesting to watch develop. Contrasting styles with both having an edge to their game while being high quality, character people who have put family first. Hamonic opting out of play as a precaution for his daughter and Rathbone playing an extra year closer to home in support of his autistic brother. I like it.
