Yeahno, Canes could trade Kokt if they want, that one year no-trade thing would have applied to Habs if they had matched.ESQ wrote: ↑Sat Sep 04, 2021 3:49 pmHonestly I'm not even sure KK is worth that. But they're stuck with him now - if I'm not mistaken, they cannot trade him for one year - I have a vague memory from the Weber offer sheet that it's a weird time line, like 12 full months from the offer sheet being signed or something?Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Sat Sep 04, 2021 2:38 pm Carolina will announce an extension with him as soon as they can. 4-6 years at under 5 million.
Maybe the Weber thing was also messed up by the lockout occurring shortly after the offer sheet was signed? I remember in that case it was a weird date like January 1 of the season after the offer sheet was signed. (I only remember because I was big time harboring a dream of acquiring Weber at the time, we needed that tall dman blaster at the time)

Before the Habs traded for Dvorak, they were believed to have scoured the league first:
Bruins/leaves interested in PK SubbanFriedman added, “I think they went after a few guys, I think they asked about obviously [Tomas] Hertl, obviously Dvorak, I wouldn’t be surprised if they asked Washington about [Evgeny] Kuznetsov but it didn’t make any sense because they are in win-now mode… I’m sure they asked Calgary about [Sean] Monahan.”
Bruins and Maple leaves Have Reached Out About Subban
Boston Hockey Now’s Jimmy Murphy did finally offer up an update on his report that the Bruins might be among the teams interested in defenseman P.K. Subban. He reports that multiple sources confirmed the Bruins, on more than one occasion, explored a Subban trade but hoped to convince the Devils to pick up half of his $9 million cap hit for this season.
Murphy also said the Toronto Maple leaves had “more than lukewarm interest” in Subban. They too would need some serious salary retention involved in the deal.
It doesn’t make much sense for Devils’ GM Tom Fitzgerlad to consider retaining half of Subban’s salary unless the team Subban is going to offers up nice compensation for doing so. The defenseman is only on the books for one more year and the Devils have the cap space to absorb his deal.
A trade deadline deal seems to be what makes more sense.

Eklund ( yeah I know) has an E4 about a deal between Buffalo and LA. Posted yesterday and not sure how accurate this would be.

Sens send 6'6 218lbs, 23yrs, former 11th overall pick center Logan Brown to St. Louis for 6'4 winger Zach Sanford & a conditional pick - Sanford is a more proven player at this point at 26yrs of age and has scored 16g, 14a, 30pts back in 2019/20, while Brown has played decent at the AHL level.
Sanford has a year left at $2M, then is a UFA.
Brown has year left at $750K, then is a RFA.

I was kinda hoping we might send our own 2016 draft bust for the Sens 2016 draft bust.
Brown has all kinds of talent. He’s huge but he lacks intensity. That won’t fly with the Chief.

There are some real stinkers in the 2016 1st round, Doyle. Not just Olli

Brad Treliving probably calling to see if they can trade for Olli Juolevi, they love Canucks players.

Okay, hear me out.
Assume that Hamonic either retires or sits the season out. I believe the Canucks will get his 3 mil cap hit back. that would give the Canucks a total cap space of around 19 million.
Assume that Pettersson and Hughes re-sign for a total of around 16 mil.
Would you:
Claim Gudbranson on waivers (if he ended up there) with his 1.95 million (1 year) cap hit? He is a RD. Doing it this way also allows the Canucks to keep Pearson for now.
If not, that is fine, who would you target to replace Hamonic on RD?

Lol hell no. That would be painful to watch again. I’ll take Luke Schenn at 1/3 of the price.
