Benning did a session with Walker and Shah on 650 this afternoon. He leads straight off with some analysis of CC 2020 draft prospect favorite Mike Benning; his brother Brian's boy and nephew Matt's brother. Plays the game a lot like his uncle Jim did. We still see him as a target for the third round this coming Wednesday ;)

Sure, Canuck fans know what Bo brings to the team, but Tim Horvat is a loudmouth, overbearing hockey dad.

He should STFU and not throw Bo's teammates under the bus.

I remember an article on Horvats dad (probably on of the days trips) and while I don’t remember the quote exactly, the message was ‘yeah Bo was injured for a bit (it was around Christmas a few years ago), and everyone saw the slide in the standings. This team goes where my son takes it’

Bo gets shit done.
Sorry, should have quoted this.

Horvat senior does talk a lot. Sounds like Lindros' dad.

I never read or heard that quote. Doesn’t seem like something he would say. Humble guy from Rodney, Ontario. Though if it was said between 2015-2018, he wasn’t really wrong. Those Canucks teams were diaper fires.
Every interview I’ve heard with the man he sounds like a proud dad. Carl Lindros was a douche. His mommy Bonnie even worse. The Chef can’t stand Horvat. Does he also hate the old man? Kinda lines up with his venom towards Hockey Canada

Benning has 3 more seasons before he has to re-sign Horvat. Bo has proven big time this year, and particularly in the playoffs (where he finished 5th in goal scoring despite playing 8-10 fewer games), that he is very much this team's engine. So Petey and Hughes aside, that has to be a big factor is any moves that will involve bringing in heavy, and likely unmovable, cap.
Quick, call Jimmy, I'm sure he hasn't thought of that! :wow:

Lol, there will be plenty of room, try to relax. :D

Oh and no such thing as unmovable cap medicine man...
HAHAHAHA. Oh Doc. You're a card.

Maybe you aren't watching to see how easy of a time Arizona is having right now trying to move OEL.
You said "unmovable" and yet reports indicate Arizona presently has two offers on the table. 8-)

One from Vancouver, one from Boston, all they have to do is choose.

As I said, no such thing as unmovable cap.

Mëds wrote: Mon Oct 05, 2020 7:20 pm A top pairing guy of OEL's skill, at under $9M, should be easy to move.....except when he has a NMC and won't waive it for more than 2 teams.

Hey, wasn't it you who said just the other day that the CBA changed and now NMC's must be honored by acquiring teams?
I wasn't talking about the CBA changing in that post of mine.

I was saying the CBA has always said in-force NMCs must be honoured post trade.

(the recent change they made was to include honouring of not-yet-in-force NMCs)

But I digress...

Mëds wrote: Mon Oct 05, 2020 7:20 pm An $8.25M defenseman gets much harder to move when they are 33-34 and have now become a 3-4 guy.....especially when they have the NMC.
Well he'd waive for Boston apparently. 8-)

Seriously, he's already shown he's the kind of guy who'd waive.

If not, you buy him out, as I pointed out the other day, his contract is very buyoutable in the last 2 years.

But yeahno, he'll still be a top-pairing guy at age 35 when his contract expires.

Trust me.

Mëds wrote: Mon Oct 05, 2020 7:20 pm Remember how much fun it was for Gillis to move Luongo with his NMC? And at the time he was on a pretty favorable contract for a top-10 goaltender, even one that was showing some signs of slowing down.
Thanks for bringing that up, there's another "unmovable" contract that turned out not to be unmovable. :mex:

Wow. I totally didn’t hear that. I heard a dad talking about his kid during a live interview. Heard him being proud. Never once did he name names like Megma, Gaunce, Chaput, etc....

To me, he didn’t throw anyone under the bus, didn’t name names, just called a spade a spade.

Perhaps you heard a different interview or something?

He sounds cautious yet optimistic some of their own prospects will help out as early as this coming season.
Jesus Gomer. There is already a link to it in Sky’s post.

Your dads run out of the ‘rainbow comprehension’ crayons to put in your lunchbox today, or did you eat them all right before Family nap time?
That was the live link to 650am. The Interview wasn't on there after it was over. All I did was wait and put up the interview once it was available.
Ya, I know, over your head.

My Dad died a long time ago. You are a fruit-cake. Your derogatory bullshit is proof. Your fetish with crayons is disgusting .

RFA Stecher on the clock 2pm deadline for QO.

Yesterday, he pretty much said he'll take whatever to stay a Canuck.

Whatever the deal they are talking about with him, qualifying him is risky. Can see an arb award north of 3 million and south of 4.5 million. That’s an amount too high for the Canucks and too low to walk away from. These numbers strain the cap and are frankly more than a third pairing guy is worth — and if the Canucks are seeing Stecher as the # 4, we have other problems.

Yeah he's good at around $1.5M per as a #6 type on a contender, could be more useful to a rebuilding team imo, who could afford to pay him a bit more.

Stecher is fine as a number 6 making 1.5 - 2 million. The amount of heat he catches here because one miserable old poster hates his guts for being short, is laughable. The team has wayyyy bigger issues than the #6 D man. Yet the same posters who pile on the guy regularly are A ok with paying Jay Beagle and the other clowns their cap hits.

Problem is we need more size on d. Stetcher got molested on the boards in the playoffs, he’d be fine if we had a bunch of other big boys but we don’t.
