Hopefully Green spreads the talent out a bit and puts JV on the top line with Miller and Petey to provide a Adam Deadmarsh/Darren McCarty like play on the top line, providing grit/heart/skill. JV has less toughness but I reckon he has a better shot.

226lbs JV's coming of age at 24, the bigger dudes typically become a more NHL complete player at around his age.
I think Virtanen will bring speed and excellent finishing abilities to a scoring line. He will not bring grit or heart - he wants to score goals more than bash teeth in. Nothing wrong with that, since goals are what win games.

Jake will produce offence if he's in a offensive role. As he showed a couple times in the playoffs, he is fast enough to be the first man back. He is far better defensively than Josh Leivo, who had an innate ability to cough up the puck on a GWG but still got top minutes.

ESQ. Nolan Patrick is just 4 months younger than Juolevi but his migraines give him a mulligan over Olli’s two surgeries. Why you ask? Matthew Tkachuk.

I’m not sure about excellent finishing ability but he does have a heavy shot. And he he has speed, and size. He could learn a lot watching JT Miller play. He needs to get on the forecheck quicker, take the puck to the net with authority, and use his strength and speed to protect the puck. He just floats around too much and his positioning is sketchy at best. He’s never going to be Cam Neely or Tom Wilson. But he could be a lot more effective if he used the tools he has.

Hes more of a Blake Comeau....both were big body stars in junior but never graduated to bigger and better things in the show. Maybe if Jake works his ass off he can follow BC and be a half decent bottom 6 one day and chip in on the walls

He could be a possession boss if he would actively improve his abilities on the board. I think his speed may have stunted that part of the game for him, he never had to battle in junior due to his size and skating ability and now he can’t win a board battle when all things are equal. So much of this comes down to him deciding to be better and actually applying himself, it sounds like he took a step in the right direction this offseason with his training with Myers.

I believe Virtanen can become a 20+ goal scorer, a solid top 6 player on the cheap, a big fella that can fly and has a underrated shot that is improving.

If anything a good fill-in on the top line, thereby allowing Boeser to play with Horvat, two effective scoring lines is best.

3rd line of Roussel - Gaudette - Lind?/Hoglander?
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

He does have a great shot. Really good. Needs to work on those angles though. Still makes the, sometimes, big mistake of not even thinking about the angles if his blast misses. Of all the main shooters on the team, he is guilty of his missed shots going back the other way the most.
This has been going on since day one. You'd think he would have played enough table-top hockey or Foosball (my fave), to get this problem rectified.

Virtanen was the reigning champion of hitting the post/crossbar for a couple years, now it's starting to go in the net lol.

Maybe you're right, but he had a 12% shooting percentage, which is above-average. Gaudette also had a high shooting percentage - compared to the offence-starved scrubs we used to see like Gaunce.

It's too bad he doesn't have more sandpaper - the games where he's physically involved are usually his best (just ask Diane Phaneuf).

Even if Olli never plays again, he won't be in the same draft bust conversation as Patrick.

If he never plays more than one game Juolevi will be a massive bust. They are both top 5 picks, and Patrick though he has been pretty meh... made the league as an 18 year old. Olaf wasn’t remotely close to making it his first two years.

Patrick should not have played those years. He clearly wasn’t ready
