How does Tippett finish 7th? How do Tippett and Maurice fish in front of Cooper? In retrospect; Awards mean shit. Only one counts.

Easy, in his first year as coach he led his team from 7th in the division to 2nd, from 79 points to a 95-point-pace.

(don't forget this award is for regular season only)

If anything Tippet should be a couple spots higher in my way-too-humble opinion.

Tortorella definitely should have won this award this year all things considered (talent-level drop, major injuries)

... but the voters are the Broadcasters Association, and we know how Torts treats those chumps.

Cooper? His stacked team digressed in the regular season!

Yearno, Cooper won this award in his first year as Lightning coach (2013-14) when he led the Bolts back to the playoffs.

mirtle:
Lou Lamoriello named GM of the Year two years after leaving the Leaves.
Jim Benning placed 6th in voting for best GM of the year.

Got three first place votes and finished sixth.

MS and a few others probably broke their keyboards trying to type something about this.

Makar :( but I wouldn’t trade Hughes for him.
Not nice to see Messier presenting to Draisaitl.
Hate that guy.
Whoever came up with this Edmonton theme is on fentanyl.

Oh well slightly disappointed for Huggy, but ultimately it really doesn't matter. We're here for the ultimate prize, everything else is just window dressing.

Still, having 2 Calder finalists and 1 winner in the last 3 years isn’t bad.. and we could have another finalist on the way for each of the next couple years..

I have no problem with Cale Makar winning. He had an excellent season. Quinn was a worthy candidate and had a hell of a good year too. I thought the vote would have been closer though. I didn’t expect Makr to get twice as many first place votes.

I can’t believe there are six tards that voted Quinn the 3rd best rookie. Nobody outside Hughes or Makar should have gotten a top 2 vote.
