I’m suddenly really against the cultural appropriation if it finally gets rid of the constipated whale and brings back the stick and rink.
Okay, maybe that has nothing to do with cultural appropriation, and just my dislike of the current logo.
Now, if they wanted to make some real money they could use the stick and rink as a third and work with local indigenous artists yearly to create new Pacific Northwest inspired logos each season. The name Canuck doesn’t have to be an orca. Any Canadian symbol, or animal would be as good. One year use an indigenous style thunderbird as the main logo, the next year use a wolf, the year after a bear, caribou, crow, etc. Change it each season but maintain continuity with an occasionally used stick and rink third jersey. They would have new collectable jerseys to sell each year. That would be a much more palatable way to make money than putting advertising on jerseys.
