Re: 2019/20 Predictions
Yup, my prediction for 5 years was playoffs in 2019.
Missed it by *that* much.
But now I'm predicting playoffs in 2020 and I'm never wrong.
Well almost never.

Listen Moonshadow, Bennings drafting over the last 3 drafts will go down as the greatest 3 years in a row of drafting by a GM in Sports History! The Brown Wizard wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2019 5:57 pm

Would this not be the best thing to happen, Canucks play Calgary in round 1 and win the round the Laughs are out in the first round, beaten by the Bruins AGAIN.
With that who needs drugs, we would all be happy campers.

Jesus he’s tiny. He has pipes like the Chef. The Chef has a huge beach ball gut though.
Virtanen is a thick kid. He should be imposing his will physically on the ice. I just don’t think he has the requisite anger in him.

Yea mon, imagine in a few years when he fills out a bit and becomes an even a better skater?Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2019 1:28 pm Jesus he’s tiny. He has pipes like the Chef. The Chef has a huge beach ball gut though.

JV is definitely big-boned. As long as he keeps the fat off, it's good. Look at those tree-trunk legs. Him, Bure and Crosby... guys who are great skaters had massive legs. Hughes needs to do some squats.
At this point, I don't care about his draft peers comparisons. If Jake can channel some Tom Wilson-Lite hatred, with his skating and 20-25 goals a year, I'd take his skillset over 7 Milliom-Williom and Ehlers consistent 60 point regular seasons all day, every day.

I wonder how much the Chef could squat with his razor thin legs. I’m amazed he can walk around on those pool cues with that Chris Farley torso tbqh.Hank wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2019 1:38 pmYea mon, imagine in a few years when he fills out a bit and becomes an even a better skater?Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2019 1:28 pm Jesus he’s tiny. I’m ok with Jake. It wasn’t a great pick mainly because the kid is a major meathead, but if he can improve just a bit more and start finding the soft spots a bit more he may be a perennial 20 goal guy. Still too many shifts where he seems lost on the ice. I’d also like to see him play a bit meaner and do it more consistently.
At the end of the day he probably won’t be as good as Nylander/Ehlers. It is what it is. If he can become a bit more like Dustin Brown then I’m ok with the pick. I still maintain that they should have had him killing penalties and am curious as to why they dont give him a shot doing it.

Re: 2019/20 Predictions
Yeah, Jake is what it is. He is a blunt force tool (low hockey IQ) and should be wielded like one. No point in still pretending otherwise.
But his skillset is much rarer and more valuable than midget Euro scoring wingers. The JV's of the league will also be way more bang for a lot less bucks.
I would love if JV could become like that asshole Brown and help win a few cups for us.
Agree about the PK. I understand why Beagle, Sutter and Motte are out there. Even Granlund because he can take draws. But to use Bo at this point instead of Jake would be asinine.
Bo is a horrible PK'er and his defensive analytics aren't even that good. Jake would be a PK shorty weapon on one unit and Motte on the other.

Re: 2019/20 Predictions
Bo + Pearson as the 3rd PK unit is alright.
Sutter + Motte = #1
Beagle + Roussel = #2
But who do they try out until Roussel comes back?
Eriksson/Schaller if they're still here, but that's doubtful amirite?

Just listened to a Jake interview, he’s definitely dumber than a sack of hammers.

You don’t think Jake is capable of becoming a decent penalty killer?Strangelove wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2019 4:35 pm Bo + Pearson as the 3rd PK unit is alright.

To me he seems like he has a lot of the same skills as Jannik Hansen.
