You can still develop your own cheap young depth while you are trying to build a core. That’s what good organizations do.

Baubles hates the Canucks, she's a school girl on a sail boat.

How many 17 year old D men got invited to Canada’s WJC camp?

Agreed. Only a pissy little Canuck-hating schoolgirl would slam Alex Burrows on the night he is being honoured.

There’s a few 17 year old forwards at the camp as well. I wonder if he’s aware.

Nick Hague didn’t get invited to some WJC camps

Man, sure hope this rumour is not true, they saying T.Hall for either Petey or Hughes. If Aqua forces JB to do that trade, the fans will be pissed. There'll prob be another riot. :P

Sounds like spit-balling. Not surprising something like this would be emanating from New Jersey. 1 + 1 = 2, not happening..

Expand that to Sutter, Benn, Fatburger, Schaller, Motte and Beaglet and you’re more accurate
Notice how our PK has fallen off without Sutter and Beagle? I know, just a coincidence.
The point is that all of them are just placeholders.. and some of them are fragile placeholders at best. You can’t count on them. Sure the PK will suffer without the experience of Sutter and Beagle or the speed of Motte. Bottom line is in year 6 it would be nice if this administration developed some of its own bottom six players instead of paying through the nose for them.
I don't disagree, entirely. But, if you look, we are doing exactly that right now. Sure, the guys who are 30+ are place-holders/mentors, and over-paid. Hell, outside of a few exceptions, most NHLers over 30 are placeholders (Edler for example). But, we can afford to pay them when we have our new core still on entry level contracts.

Right now, we do have a nice pool of potential top 6 guys, and cheap bottom 6 guys too. Virtanen, Gaudette, Motte, Lind, MacEwen, Gadovich and Graovac all are potentially quality bottom 6 guys, with a few of them looking to maybe being solid 2nd line players. They are all cheap right now, and will stay cheap as long as they don't get too good offensively.

But, we have seen over the last 3 years what happens when you try to rely on plugs that you hope blossom into quality players to fill the bottom 6. They suck badly, and we over-play the top 6, leading to even more injuries. In a lot of ways developing quality bottom 6 guys is a heck of a lot harder than developing your top 6. Guys like Petterson, Hughes, Boeser and Horvat come NHL ready. But, your bottom 6 guys don't even get a serious crack at the NHL until around 22, and still take 100 games (over 2-3 years, typically) to hit their stride. Learning to play solid defense in the bottom 6 takes time and patience. Both are in limited supply, considering there is a huge pool of players that are border-line NHLers that could develop into quality NHLers, and very little separates a career AHL/Europe league player from a bottom 6 NHLer. Thas separation is often luck (right time for a hot streak, right player in the NHL gets injured, right spot on waiver eligibility, etc.) And, teams can't afford to lose extra games because they are developing their rotating bottom 6 pool. Throw in a CBA with pretty shitty waiver rules for guys on a slower development track and I can see why it's easier to pick up a 28+ yr old 4th liner over developing one yourself.

One last point. Given our entire lack of top end talent 6 years ago (Yes, the twins were place holders), Benning had a lot more pressing issues to focus on than building up the bottom 6 thru home grown talent.
The Cup is soooooo ours!!!!!!!

Obviously, there's plenty there this go-round. He does mention Jersey and Hall, doesn't make any specific connections.

Boston Globe reporter Kevin Dupont just threw a hypothetical "if you are the canucks...would you trade pettersson or Hughes for Hall if you knew you could resign him" tweet out which led to the hockey world laughing at him

Its based on nothing whatsoever
