That's what I'm thinking - Benning will be a big player today. Next year's first is gone, so the core is set, the rebuild is over and it's Jim's "Black Friday" shopping frenzy.

Gone if they make the playoffs, not gone if they don’t, which is an important distinction. If they make the playoffs the rebuild is over. If not they get next year’s lottery pick and then the rebuild is over, and admittedly Benning is probably replaced.

Hearing UFA F Anders Lee could top $9 million AAV when he signs today. Do not expect the #CBJ to part of the bidding at that level.

Yep, do or die time for Jimbo. Still don’t see this as a playoff team especially given what the competition has done, but there’s still time left in the offseason.

2 years, $2 million per for Benn. Very nice deal by Jimbo, even less money than I thought he would get.

Suggested he plays real well, much better, on the right side. That was the selling point.

Stecher wont be inundated with ice time now.

I was wondering whether a team might launch a one year max at Panarin, saying, look, you are going to be a hot ticket next season, too. Is there a time when a player might turn down $80 million guaranteed to take $16.3. The answer is someone who is confident that they will get $80 million next year.

He does play the right side more than the left, so we are left with too many right side D. Can’t play all of Tanev, Myers, Stecher and Benn at the same time.

Not trying to be an ass, but ya think it's time to trade Chris?

Is it odd that all the big deals are being leaked before the frenzy even begins? It used to all go down after 9am.

Or stretcher. If youre going for it you need all hands on deck. Tanev can still be a defensive factor if he can avoid the infirmary

Besides, do we need two undersized defensemen? Quinn can put up points but Stecher cannot even hit he net.

I'd be thrilled to see Stecher go, unfortunately he likely has very little value around the league. Maybe with retention the leaves will take him for a 2nd, as they are desperate for cheap D now.

Or, Benn starts the year playing his "natural" left side, and covers right once there's an injury.
