5 or 6 doesn’t get enough FA years.
With less FA years, 5 or 6 comes at a lower AAV than 7 or 8 then right?

5 or 6 years seems to be in vogue these days for 2nd contracts.

It gives team/player a *possibility* of an 8 year deal on the 3rd contract.
You would think it’d be lower, but it hasn’t been for the Leaves. But that depends on the Dumbass, oops I mean GM.
I would probably offer the same lower value at 4, 5, or 6 years to Boeser, and give a big bump for a longer contract.
4x5m, 5x5m, 6x5m then a jump 7x7m, or 8x8m. Four years is good because he is still a RFAs at the end. Five or Six and you run the risk he will do what we all know Matthews is going to do to Toronto when his contract is up and he is a UFA. He probably has Coyote Jammies. Seven or Eight is good because you want him and Petterson in the core for a long time, and you want him signed before he breaks out and commands a double digit salary.

You think so?

I dunno, if anything I kinda think they may cut it back to 7 years max.

Just my opinion...

You mean the new CBA max? -- they might.

But I was speaking more to why we are seeing more shorter contracts. Players are still asking for the 8years, but GM's are being. Little wary of giving them... (with exceptions to exceptional players, of course)

I agree with all you said, although I think your Boeser numbers should be a mil higher across the board.

Yeah, I too like the idea of Boeser wrapped up for 8 years.

But then I'm somewhat of a dinosaur (not a literal dinosaur like Micky).

I think GMs these days are thinking:

"If we're going to fully cash in on our advantage of an 8th year in the 3rd contract

... let's make sure the player isn't 38 years old by that 8th year)

Oh I see, and yeah you could be right, who knows.

All options have to be included when reporting.
Of course there not be much of a problem were it not for the paralyzing contract that Louis Eriksson is not living up to.
Would there.

One thing about Benning is he has shown he can play hardball. Who the fuck does Ericksson think he is anyway. Ya he has a NTC. He wants out. Don’t fucking try to play hardball like Kesler. If there is a team or teams willing to take him without pain on us then just fucking go already. Expecting us to give up major assets to move him somewhere he wants to be, puuullllease.

I hope Benning holds firm. Let’s see how Louie likes Utica. Or......get out there Berry and find a market. He has permission to do so, so I’ve been told.

Interesting, Canucks hire former Daily Hive writer Ryan Biech to help in their analytics dept. Looks like Murph had him on as a guest during the intermissions on occasion as well.

https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/canucks ... -analytics

Good move, we need more computer/hockey nerds to help our team. They're taking over the NHL (those Florida guys, Dubas, etc). :P

There is room for Eriksson's and Boeser's potentially long-term contracts under the cap.

Having said that, I'm confident Jimmy finds a way to move the Eriksson contract...

Team might want to play they young kids in Utica - is there even room for him there?

Kalamazoo might be an option? How would that be perceived in the NHL? Would it detract future free agents from signing in Vancouver or would they brush it off as a one-off "he deserved it for the way he played"
