There is not enough cap space to sign all three.
Now, thinking outside the box about how to get out from these contracts, where exactly was Benning on the day of the KHL plane crash? Did Benning want to get out from Pavel Demitra’s contract? I think we need some answers.
Doesn’t Benning seem like an abnormally nice guy, kind of like Robert Pickton did before we found out his secret?
Should Loui be worried? Should someone warn Roussel and a Beagle? Inquiring minds want to know.
Are we going to stand by and watch cold blooded murder just to win a cup?

I won’t tell anyone if you don’t.
We are all Jim Benning.

Here's what the top mods at HF say about your source NHLRumorsDaily:

Please refrain from posting unreliable sources in this thread. Not sure what that means? Roger Dicklund, NHLrumorsdaily or Forever Blueshirts4 are not reliable.

What is a credible source? Brooks, McKenzie, Dreger, etc.

Take this as your one and only warning. Thank you.
The mods on the Trade board over there know their stuff.

Yeah so not sure that makes for "strong rumors(sic)" there Mick. :)

And yeah, while we're on the subject, I've been meaning to tell you for a while...

We say "rumours" here in Canada pal. :hmmm:

Are you suggesting NHLRumorsDaily is not an "unreliable source"?

Are you saying you don't link to every damn thing your read?

Are you claiming you do not pollute this board with crapola?

Are you pretending you're aren't an attention whore?

Erickson and Baertschi have more to worry about than those you mentioned.

And yes, [mod edit] is a perfectly acceptable form of cap control.... so long as it looks like an accident. :P

A few players are willing do consider 1 year deals. Markstrom is not one of them. None of the agents want 1 year deals, no surprise.

What I find surprising, perhaps I shouldn't, is that Benning doesn't want 1 year deals. He wants to lock players up for a reasonable cap and term and move forward. He is cognizant of the expansion draft but is adamant he won't manage around it but rather through it. Whatever that means.
That's really interesting. He must be pretty confident he can move some salary. Do you think being a cap team and the rumours out there about multiple teams holding to $70-75 million and some having enough financial issues where they might even be sold, might be viewed as an advantage by Benning? There's not necessarily as much in the way of dollars to go around for the players as some people may think and I'd expect it to get worse after whenever the next season is because teams are going to suffer further with gate/attendance limitations and COVID is going to be out there for some time yet.
