Don’t worry it’s short term until training camp starts. This place would be boring without some good back and forth.

If nothing else it will be nice to go into a season with the hope of making the playoffs - been too long since that was realistic.

I feel like there would be few that say someone other than Horvat.

.
A very interesting true story on how Gino Odjick perhaps saved Micheal Ferland's hockey career.
I had never heard about this before...

The choices are Horvat, or one more year of alternating captains that may include Petey.

Signing him to a one or two year deal would be the height of stupidity. It’s got to be a deal for 4 - 8 years.

4, 7, or 8

5 or 6 doesn’t get enough FA years.

With less FA years, 5 or 6 comes at a lower AAV than 7 or 8 then right?

5 or 6 years seems to be in vogue these days for 2nd contracts.

It gives team/player a *possibility* of an 8 year deal on the 3rd contract.

Most players are probably asking for 8 year deals, but most GM's probably have new CBA on their minds... Hense the shorter terms we are seeing. Once the new (or extended) CBA certainty kicks in, longer contracts will probably come back in force.
