Jake will, in all likelihood, never live up to his draft number. But, if he can carve out a middle six career well we need inexpensive wingers to fill spots. I’m not ready to let him go but if he is sought after by other GMs and can get us a decent return, either a nice pick or the ticket to move Ericksson I’d be listening to offers.
The only HW the Canucks need

I want to see JV in the playoffs. Where you can throw hits without getting a penalty with every butterfly touch.

He will either hit everything on skates - with enthusiasm - like juniors, or he will melt like ice cream.

It will be one extreme or the other.
The 'Chain of Command' is the chain I am going to beat you with until you understand I am in charge.

Jake's contract is up this July. Ya! Playoffs would be a great chance to see what he can do in that situation. He's cheap at 1.25.
Early to be on this but if he has a decent year and can show better consistency, all round, and get in some playoff time and look effective
doing it, I would not be adverse to taking advantage of his homer roots and offer him two or three years at 1,5.
Really important to have lower priced guys that don't look out of place in the line-up.

Jake is playing on an offensive line for the first time in his career (IMO), and he's scoring at an almost-25 goal pace.

I think that's within the range for a 6th overall pick - not a perennial all star/steal like Hughes, but he may wind up as the 6th best player out of his draft class. Better than #4 Bennett #5 Dal Colle already, Jake won't catch #15 Larkin or #25 Pastrnak, but Jake could surpass Ehlers, Nylander, Ritchie, Fiala, Vrana by the end of this season.

Could be a helluva lot more than that, depending on the year he has.

He's arbitration-eligible this time around.

He's presently on a 23-goal, 41-point pace with not much icetime.

Larkin is a good player but I think he’s a tad bit overrated

He'll get more then that. I dunno when he becomes a UFA (2022/23?), but a bridge deal to the end of his RFA years is likely to be $2.2. I'd love to see the Canucks give him something like the Colton Scissions deal. Maybe 6x2.5 instead of 7x2.8. Jake seems to have locked up a solid 3rd line role. Sign him while he's cheap.
The Cup is soooooo ours!!!!!!!

Good news on the injury front as Ashton Sautner is not in concussion protocol after a late hit from Brenden Dillon.

Must be swelling or something still on that ankle. It'll be tomorrows morning skate that is more relevant.

What the hell does Eriksson have to do to come out of the lineup?

He was terrible in the last two games.
