The only players on this team with any jam is Virtanen and Motte + injured Roussel.
Every team needs balance of skill, size, aggression and speed, Lucic fills that hole on the Canucks with his size and aggression, especially with Roussel out till Xmas at best & won't be the same till 2020 I bet.

Eriksson is still a useful player on the third line.
We can get a player to do what Looch does for a third the cap/term
... and without a NMC.
Two years from now there will be other forwards you will want to protect in the X draft.

I suspect that any trade that brings in a vet with term of more than 2 years will be under the condition that any NTC or NMC will be waived prior to the expansion draft.

AND if the sweetener for Lucic is swapping #10 for #8 the Canucks got a real shot at one of Zegras, Dach or Cozens, that is if Podkolzin, Caufield, Boldy or Bro go before #8.
Imagine the Canucks top two lines of:
Petey - Boeser
Horvat - Cozens
shiiiiit that's worth the trade in itself.
I can't see any of Zegras, Dach or Cozens reaching #10.

I agree with the swapping of the 10 and 8 being worth it depending on the board, could be the difference of getting a Quinn Hughes or being stuck with Zadina. Zegras is who I’m salivating over and maybe a Broberg

I'm basically saying that we won't see something like Loui for Looch if the latter comes with his full NMC.
