Seriously it’s getting stupid here, isn’t there supposed to be a single thread where you can all jerk each other off?

It might be time for the Gimp to be locked up in the suitcase again. He’s biting the hand that feeds him
“Tyler Myers is my guy... I was taking to Scotty Bowman last night and he was bringing up his name, and saying he’s a big guy and big guy need big minutes to play, he is playing great for ya… and I agree with him… He’s been exceptional” - Bruce Boudreau

Actually this thread was driven into the ditch by 2 posters who insisted/persisted on presenting their opinions as fact.Blob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Sat Dec 08, 2018 6:50 am It appears Blob took the bait from Stranglegrove as he dragged yet another thread into the ditch

Please learn the difference between points and opinions.Blob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Sat Dec 08, 2018 6:55 amGood points Linc.Linc wrote: ↑Sat Dec 08, 2018 1:00 am Hockey Widow, thanks for setting out the additional facts a portion of which I have included above. I don't think it changes my original point that I don't think Benning communicated things well with Hamhuis. Canucks knew that Hamhuis wanted to stay a Canuck and, as you note, that he was not interested in waiving his NTC. They also knew before the deadline that he would take a discount to stay. What changed Hamhuis's mind in all of this was Benning advising him "with about a week to go" before the deadline that they decided to move on. Thats when Hamhuis took a bit of time to consider things and agree to waive. However, it was late in the day and a number of teams had made trades. I think Chicago had already made a number of acquisitions by that point.
As you note, Canucks had not extended Hamhuis in the summer and then he was injured during the season. Surely by the time of the injury they were not going to know much more about his skills before the deadline then they already knew. If Benning and company did not decide to move on from Hamhuis until they told him days before the deadline, then that seems poor management to me. If they knew it earlier (which I suspect was the case), then they should have had the difficult discussion with him a couple of weeks earlier so Hamhuis could get his mind around what he wanted to do in the situation, consult with his family, and they could work out a trade before teams started moving assets or choose not to waive.
Like you, I have no issue with how Hamhuis handled things. I am also a fan of Bennings; however, I just don't think he handled that matter very well for the team or for Hamhuis.
Your cooperation in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
