Skyo’s friend from hfboards Canucks “RIP Botchford” said Karlsson was on a connecting flight. He knows everything about everything. Keep in mind this is the poster that Dude took a shine to. Used to go by “Dim Jim”. I guess he is a massive Jason Botchford fanboy. He posted that he “was in shambles” upon hearing the news of Botchford’s passing. Got quite the massive ego this poster.

Connecting? With a 2 day stopover at an undisclosed downtown hotel?

Kicking tires. Didn’t Tavares do the same thing? Visited a half dozen cities prior to signing, wasn’t the Canucks one of them

Yes, but not before the UFA-discussion window.

That is very curious, I really think the weird Swedish love-in might tip the scales in our favour, especially since according to Friedman he has been offered Doughty-money on an 8-year deal from SJS, but hasn't accepted it...

Unofficially, there is a lot of talk going on. Third party, agents etc. All that is on Karlsson mind right now is where he will be playing out his final days, makes sense that he drops in, checks out a city that is showing interest. Most Likely stayed at one of the Sedins home.

Say we sign Karlsson, he plays the right side. Are we keeping Tanev? And is that bye bye to Edler although he is left side?

My thought

Right side - Stecher, Tanev, Karlsson
Left side - Hughes, Juolevi, Hutton

Edler walks, or keep Edler and trade Hutton. Cost save with Juolevi, throw him to the fire.

Keep Tanev until RHD Woo is ready

They probably let Edler walk now if he wants a long contract and expansion draft protection. I think they keep Hutton until Tryamkin returns. I doubt Hutton is around long term unless he improves significantly.

The right side defense could definitely use a good signing, Karlsson is the best option, but his injuries are a worry as his best days are likely behind him. Signing him may lead to a regrettable contract in a couple seasons. They are probably better off signing cheaper depth FAs and continuing to build through the draft. If I were swinging for the fences I’d focus on Panarin. If I missed on him, I’d continue to just sign cheaper FA depth.
