The defence at present needs the most help “now”. Sign a UFA D-man, draft a forward like Newhook, Krebs or whatever. Or vice versa I suppose, draft Broberg, sign Panarin, sign EdlerCherry Picker wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2019 11:15 amThey probably let Edler walk now if he wants a long contract and expansion draft protection. I think they keep Hutton until Tryamkin returns. I doubt Hutton is around long term unless he improves significantly.RoyalDude wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2019 10:05 am Say we sign Karlsson, he plays the right side. Are we keeping Tanev? And is that bye bye to Edler although he is left side?
My thought
Right side - Stecher, Tanev, Karlsson
Left side - Hughes, Juolevi, Hutton
Edler walks, or keep Edler and trade Hutton. Cost save with Juolevi, throw him to the fire.
Keep Tanev until RHD Woo is ready
The right side defense could definitely use a good signing, Karlsson is the best option, but his injuries are a worry as his best days are likely behind him. Signing him may lead to a regrettable contract in a couple seasons. They are probably better off signing cheaper depth FAs and continuing to build through the draft. If I were swinging for the fences I’d focus on Panarin. If I missed on him, I’d continue to just sign cheaper FA depth.

Elmer is going to swing for the fences. I’m predicting a lot of movement in Vancouver with either trades or UFA or both. This is a manager in the last year of his deal who will be gassed if they don’t make the playoffs and he has a pile of cap space. If nothing else this is going to be an extremely interesting summer.

This is good. The team needs a significant shuffling of the decks and with the talented youth coming online it could work out well with a few key changes. #1 priority has to be that back end though.Blob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2019 11:47 am Elmer is going to swing for the fences. I've never made any predictions in regards to when Donlever's Canucks might become a contender.Uncle dans leg wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2019 12:33 pm Its not too far fetched to see the makings of a contender on the horizon...what was docs prediction again?
Perhaps you should start a thread on that.

I mean sure they could make the playoffs if everything broke right. Re - up Edler and Karlsson signs here and minimal injuries occur. Maybe pick up a decent UFA or two up front and somehow get rid of Eriksson and Sutter and maybe Spooner.Uncle dans leg wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2019 12:33 pmThis is good. Happy Fathers Day to one and all. I’m a hurtin unit today. Went to the Lions game last night in a limo, hopped up on moonshine among other things. Got booted out of BC Place right before half time because a buddy interfered in a good fistfight between two gentlemen we didn’t know. Good times... a good old melee erupted and somehow I got the boot. Me and buddy watched the second half at the bar and waited for the rest of our crew to get the limo back to Hard Rock Casino. It didn’t get a hell of a lot better than that as I have no idea how I got home or when. Fuck it... it’s my day !!!
