Wow - pretty damn good and they keep winning.

We can keep on showing the Nucks smiling faces.

Does anyone really feel any allegiance with Vegas? They don't deserve to be in the position they are, and the fact that they are, makes a mockery of the NHL. I mean jeeezus man. How many frikin LVK fans ever grew up playing street hockey while imagining they were their favourite nhl player? How many ever knew about the relevance of #9, or #4, or even 66 or 99? Their status and standing is NOT deserved. WTH was wrong with them having to wait and build a team thru the draft and FAs like any other team? So when i see all this hype and hoopla about the Vegas GKs, i find myself feeling like i couldnt give a shit. Theyre an NHL business and PR creation that means 'dick' to this dude and i appreciate having 2 cents worth airtime to say as much. Thank You.

Blame it on the commissioner. He's allowing it. Pre-game garbage.

Wonder what's next in that head of his?

Vegas is not a hockey town, they're a bandwagon, trendy town. Right now (thanks to a favourable expansion draft) hockey is successful and therefore 'popular' in Vegas. They couldn't even support an ECHL team, which folded when the Orleans Casino kicked them out.

They've hosted a pre-season game since 97 that has grown in popularity, mostly because Kings fans make the trip. I went to most of them while I was there, and would ask random people what their favourite hockey memory was. After a blank stare, some would come up with "Miracle on ice" as a stock answer.

People in Vegas don't give a shit about hockey - and if they do, then they're transplants who have their 'home' team back in Chicago, Detroit, etc. Once the Knights fall back to earth, and have a sub-500 season, the seats will be empty.

Exactly what I was thinking, long term this could come back and bite them in the ass. What do fans hope for? to win the championship and if Vegas does it in the first year how many fans will want to continue to support the team unless they are already hockey fans.

What this does show is that for a team to be successful you do not always need a Crosby, you need a team with everyone on the same page and no players who make constant mistakes (i.e. Edler of old). You need players who know what is needed and willing to do what it takes and a coach willing to let them do it. Clip board Willy is no longer the way to coach, bring some structure but allow the players to bring their own edge to the game.

Well I hate the pre game crap. What I mean to say is I hate the fact it's included in the broadcast.

Will it survive? I think it will.

It's my belief that within 10 to 12 years, all four major sports will be there.

NHL. NBA. NFL. MLB.

Have my doubts about MSL though...

You're right, their current roster plays damn good hockey, and they appear to have excellent coaching. Despìte their unearned status, perhaps their success can inspire hope about a team of avg to slightly above avg players that could possibly go all the way. They remind me a bit of the Florida Panthers making it to thefinal against the Avalanche, only the Knights play a much more tenacious style of hockey. But i still dont like them. :scowl:

Well let's not lump the team and fans together. The Golden Knights team, if they win the Cup, totally deserve it.

The rest is just jealousy that our millionaires didn't win the Cup before their millionaires. Get over it. It's not like you've been training hard for this all your life and just got shafted.

Colorado didn't deserve it in 96 because it was their first year there after Quebec when through years of misery.

Carolina made it to the final in their 4th year and won it in their 7th - did they deserve it?

FLA made the final in their 3rd season, but lost - did they deserve to be there?

Calgary won the cup 8 years after moving from Atlanta, they obviously didn't deserve it because Otto kicked it in.

I'm with the 5thhorseman - if Vegas wins the cup, they 100% deserve it - forget about the fan, it's the team - they have been playing solid hockey since day 1 and 30 other NHL teams would love to have a team that plays like that day in day out.

I think I prefer seeing Vegas exploit the stacked expansion draft model, to seeing a team move from Canada and win (I.e. Avalanche).

I felt cheated when Tampa won after "only" 13 years of futility.

However, Tampa's success in the community is tied to that Championship. From a business perspective, this cup run in Vegas is creating millions of new hockey fans - whereas a run by the Jets would create virtually zero new hockey fans.

Bettman's prerogative is growth of the game (in a profitable manner). I'm not sure the game needs to be grown, but I don't have hundreds of millions invested in it and I'm not one of 31 shareholders that Bettman answers to.

So I don't feel Vegas is worthy of my hatred - I'll save that for Calgary and the Leaves :mex:

This part I'll agree with - it's still the hardest trophy to win.

^^^ - true enough, but the quality of my after work IPA experience, is definitely impacted - my viewing pleasure/investment would be enhanced by an appreciation of a more traditional hockey market playing (like the canucks)... yes, 'homerism' abounds, and i probably am jealous.
