If they don’t move him and he signs in Florida that could be the straw that broke he camels back for Elmer. A recent 1st , a high 2nd ( in a stacked draft) and a 4th for a guy we rented for two injury riddled seasons to play on the bottom pairing. He had three fights and a few hits and scored 5 points. Good times.
Not sure where you're going with this one - You make a case the Gubs is a player no team will want, yet you expect to get a return at the deadline? What do you think he'll bring?

Do we dump him for a 3rd or 4th? Do we try to re-sign him for another 1-2 years?

Personally, I expected a little more from him - more hits, better D, less injuries - but with that said, he's still as good as any of the other scrubs / placeholders on our weak D.

No just referring to Skyo getting the excuses ready. I think he has a bit of value but nothing close to what was sent out to acquire him. I can’t imagibe ownership will be too thrilled to get back a late 2nd and a scrub prospect. I imagine they would be irate if he walked for nothing July 1st. That was my point.

Like yourself I also expected more from him

Liked the player not the price. Saw him play and am unimpressed with the player and hate the price. Oh well sunk cost , move him for what you can

They've probably already decided what they want to do with him, gonna assume they've talked to his agent to see what his contract expectations are and they've probably got a couple calls kicking the tires on Guddy.

And at least Guds is playing way better than last year, the big beast is playing smarter positionally, he's not chasing players behind the net, he's battling in the corners and is always in front of the goalie to help protect/shield the net.

40 days till trade deadline to settle these tradeable players to contenders.

DailyHive got the 5 tradeable players from the canucks

http://dailyhive.com/vancouver/canucks- ... trade-2018

Vanek for a 3rd.
Gudbranson for a 2nd. (see Ron Hainsey trade)
Tanev for at least 1st + but probably not dealt.
MDZ for a 3rd.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Like I said before, I'll say it again IF the Sedins retire at season's end, I can see Edler saying OK! time for a change! and he will discreetly tell General Benning his preferred teams he'd be willing to be traded to.

I know Vanek only landed a 3rd last year, but I think we might get a 2nd for him... cuz Benning.

I was comparing deadline deals last year and Benning killed it:

http://www.nhltradetracker.com/user/tra ... /2016-17/1

That 3rd Detroit got for Vanek last year was conditional:

If Florida made the playoffs, Detroit would have received Arizona's 3rd (69th O/A)

... but the Cats didn't qualify so Detroit received Florida's 3rd (71st O/A).

I think Benning could talk a team out of a late 2nd this year (50th - 62nd?).

Or how about a package deal - Guds + Vanek for a late 1st. :mex:

I think Edler would want to do what's best for the team, like Burr and Hansen

... rather than Hamhuis and Vrbata.

Plus he's pals with Linden and it's in his best interest to remain that way (he loves Vancouver.. and post hockey career??).

And no doubt management would explain they won't be offering another contract due to the youth movement.

I wouldn't be surprised if we have to wait until NEXT YEAR's deadline however.

Not sure if Mëds and Madcombinepilot can hang on that long... :|

Preparing for a 3rd mentally aha, so if he gets more great! if not - well it's expected.

Good ideal about packaging Guds and Vanek together for a 1st, I can see the Islanders pulling that off, they also have Ho-Sang who maybe in their bad books on the team.

Since the price for Gudbranson (plus a 5th round pick) was a former 24th overall plus a second round pick and a fourth round pick, wouldn't killing it this year require that Benning get at least as much back ?

Examples of Stalwart - Jared "Harold Druken" McCann Rasmus "Per Olav Brasar" Asplund.

If Gudbranson can be signed for 3 - 4 years at a good rate then keep him.

If not then i hope Benning is on the phone now to move him, i do not see his value increasing before then. doing TDD deals with UFA are a 2 headed sword.

I agree with Strange, Vanek should bring a 2nd and if JB can swing both of them for a late 1st I am all over that even if it is a 2019 1st.

I should have been more specific: a former 24th overall Jim Benning draft pick, and therefore, by standard Royal Dude criteria, generational.
