OK Doc - what is going to happen in 1 - 2 years?

OK Doc you said it a million time for the past 2 years.

First it was 3 – 4 year, then 2 – 3 and now 1 – 2 years when referencing fans to wait and see how the Canucks turn out.

So my questions is what do YOU expect to see from the Nucks in 1 – 2 years?

Are they a playoff team?
A pretender?
A contender?

What?
You keep on saying wait, wait, wait, but what exactly are we waiting for?

This is an honest question about where you see this team going in 1 – 2 years for you to keep saying that. Please answer with more than hoping a few picks make the transition to the NHL and become 1st line players, I expect a better answer than that.

Don't push me pretty boy!

Just kidding.

1-2 off-seasons from now we will all be talking about how far Canucks will go in the next playoffs

... as well as how many years the window will be open.

And how exactly will this happen in 2 years?

Unless something magical happens the Canucks only have Horvat as a legit 1st liner. Everyone else is untried and you cannot pencil them in yet. I guess they could trade a D man for a forward but it takes 2 to tangle and significant trades do not happen very often.

I guess the Nucks can emulate Nashville and win by playing D, seems like the whole NHL is moving to less goals being scored.

Nice to see your normal contribution RD, keep it coming.

Typical.... one two to years which may as well be 2019. We apparently see how well they will do in the next seasons layoffs which will be 2020. Keep moving the goalposts. Like Elmer makes it that long without playoffs. Can't wait to hear the back pedalling when he finally gets gassed

This will happen by continuing the transition to a young core (rebuild).

Too soon to "pencil" anyone in... the cream will rise to the top.

Or did you want me to prophesize who we are picking in the 2017 draft and "pencil some in"? :scowl:

"Something magical" is happening - a bunch of great young prospects are rising up.

Plus 4 more picks in the Top-64 coming right up, among other things...

Obviously the plan is to use illegitimate first liners. Sure Rob Stark was legitimate, but we know what happened to him. John Snow and Ramsey Bolton were illegitimate and were pretty awesome in their own ways. So if the plan is to go with Bastards, I think it's brilliant. I'm with Strangelove. The more bastards and assholes the better. And if you disagree, well, you know nothing!

I predict in 1-2 off-seasons from now we'll be arguing over "... we will all be talking ...". I have a feeling some people won't count as part of the "all".

Nice thread, Reef. Damn ballsy of you I might add too.

IMHO, in 1 or 2 years, along the present path, this team might just be competitive to push for a wild card spot.
To be "rated" as a cup contender, if everything pans-out really well, with no devastating injuries, and superior drafting and trading, maybe 5 to 6 years.
If you want to see the 5 to 6 year part in 1 or 2, pretty sure the league would have to take pity and give us, (just us), our own personal 150 million cap and make sure the owner spends it all. ;)
I'm sure that's not what the others will tell you because they are sages and very wise.
Me? Pretty much just a history buff now.

The most accurate prediction ever on this board. :D

For me it started last year. What started you ask? Glad you did.

For me it's watching the kids and not knowing what may be coming down the pipe via trades and picks etc.

I think we will steadily be more fun to watch each year until we are a threat to win the cup once more.

I'm sure I'm not the first to notice or point this out, but I think we're going in circles

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10892&p=268948&hili ... in#p268948

I fear there just aren't enough available facts to sustain the level of analysis and projection we are attempting.

This process is a lot like watching college football. I never watched it until I moved to Nebraska, but it's fun watching kids develop and grow into the position.

As Canuck fans, I don't know if we're EVER had this situation, and I'm enjoying it. (still pissed about Tryamkin, though).
