they both have differen roles to fill, but I would caution a bit of patience until both players have passed through their sophomore years before debating who better fills their role on the team. I agree that Stetcher seems to have a higher ceiling, but would wait until Stetcher goes through the sophomore year and see how Hutton comes out of it before opening the debate

I am a little suprised at how enamoured canucks fans are with Stretcher. He was basically a lighter Biega that takes hits instead of giving them. He gets owned down low and gives the puck away waaaay too often. He has spunk for sure and can skate but really he isnt anything to build aroundMadcombinepilot wrote:micky107 wrote:Stecher IS better than Hutton already. Hello?

For now, he is a good power play guy, who is also a good #4 defenceman

Comparing Stecher to Biega is like Prime rib to bottom round.Uncle dans leg wrote:I am a little suprised at how enamoured canucks fans are with Stretcher. Stecher will ramp up the rough stuff next year, I could see he was headed that way at the end of this one.
He's got an extremely advanced hockey mind, (thinks quicker than most), wont let any flaws in his game fester and get out of hand.
I think it highly unlikely he has a sophomore jinx.
Trust me! If I'm wrong by Christmas, I WILL admit it, really...

The guy's an ant. He wont be ramping up fuck all bro. Watching the better playoff teams kick the shit out of the shittier ones reminds you why little dmen like TS aren't going to cut it when the bullet hits the bone.micky107 wrote:

Stech boy just has to get quicker and stronger, so he can fly around Dan Boyle styles.Uncle dans leg wrote:The guy's an ant. He wont be ramping up fuck all bro. Stecher like Boyle has that superb edge work, dekes and cuttin' corners like a wiz.
That's what Stecher has to continue working on to avoid getting hit, and create a lot of scoring chances, the more he's in the attack zone with possession the less he has to worry about defending vs the giants.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

I'm with UDL on this one. Stecher is a nice story but people better temper their expectations. Personally I was way more excited about Tryamkin's potential.micky107 wrote:You have the mentality of a fourth Hansen brother.Uncle dans leg wrote:The guy's an ant. Stecher could prove to be a useful asset in the future once he rounds out his game - a PP specialist who can play in your second pair would be phenomenal. I don't understand why some fans want to anoint him as the team's best Defenceman.
I'm very curious to see how he handles his sophomore season. I hope he'll be able to continue his development but it's not like it's a sure thing. I don't think it's unrealistic that he could just as easily develop into a fringe bottom pairing defenceman.
Re: Playoff OOTS
This is almost funny!!!! If it wasn't so SAD.
The season is over and NOW:
Stechers too small.
Tryampkin is a lonely, immature Russian.
The two most promising D-men on our team. Top four guys right now on this team and in my books, if it wasn't for the fact they do best on the same side, the two best guys to use on the number ONE pp unit.
See, I don't forget what I've been watching. I am not influenced by the idiot payed professional sports writers and SO CALLED experts, (not f==king likely). I do not "make stuff up", (hint ) It's the above mentioned that do!!!!!
Why ? Cause they wouldn't get payed if they didn't say or write something, so, they; come on, you can say it;
MAKE STUFF UP !
If it's funny or entertaining, I may watch a link but if it's an opinion, screw it, I'll go with my own.
Seems like many feel a whole lot different now that they have no team to watch.
(just to save me some grief, I acknowledge Topper never was "high" on Stecher)

The Stench is like the new Gary lupul
“Tyler Myers is my guy... I was taking to Scotty Bowman last night and he was bringing up his name, and saying he’s a big guy and big guy need big minutes to play, he is playing great for ya… and I agree with him… He’s been exceptional” - Bruce Boudreau

Re: Playoff OOTS
And you have the debating ability of a 12yr old girl but that still doesnt change the fact that runty turnover machine d-men better be exceptional at moving pucks and avoiding freight trains when the games get violent. Unless of course you value a feel good story about a local boy over your team being able to win.micky107 wrote:You have the mentality of a fourth Hansen brother.Uncle dans leg wrote:The guy's an ant. Re: Playoff OOTS
We should give that AHL defensive zone train wreck smurf called Jordan Subban a go then if the Stench stinks for some. See how they like that

That's funny because I've noticed that you jump ships, (Change your mind about things), as much as a 12 year old girl.Uncle dans leg wrote:And you have the debating ability of a 12yr old girl but that still doesnt change the fact that runty turnover machine d-men better be exceptional at moving pucks and avoiding freight trains when the games get violent. I'll just say let the future prove who's more accurate and leave it there.
