Re: Canucks Contracts
This far away from free agency seems like this could just be an organizational nudge through the media (i.e.)"hey alex, you're not getting that 3rd year or more. At least not nmc protected."BladesofSteel wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2019 9:49 am Much can happen between now and July 1st.
The objective here is to improve the defence for next year and beyond. If this means moving on from Edler, so be it, but I don’t believe anything until it’s official.
And good on management. If this guy loves it here so much so as to refuse a trade last season as well as wanting term as a 30+ y/o player as well as nmc protection in the midst of league expansion...well he can go pound sand elsewhere. Sounds like its all take and no give. I think Jimbo's calling a bluff. Let's see if he read the cards right.

A subterfuge you say? Would a pro sports team actually do that? There's no doubt that could be the case. Re: Canucks Contracts
I just posted this on another thread. Dan Murphy is reporting that the stumbling block with Edler is term, not cap or trade protection. The Canucks are prepared to offer a NTC, just not a NMC. Don’t know how far apart the sides are in term.Rocky Dennis wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2019 2:36 pmThis far away from free agency seems like this could just be an organizational nudge through the media (i.e.)"hey alex, you're not getting that 3rd year or more. Re: Canucks Contracts
Give him more term, and lower his cap hit. Give him a full NTC for 2 years, and a modified for the remaining 2-3.
Front load a 4 year deal worth $24 schmill.
$7.5, $6.5, $5.5, $4.5.

The Daily Hive is reporting that Edler looks done in Vancouver. Mgmt has their targets on Jake Gardiner and maybe Myers.

Age, durability and Seattle Expansion playing into Bennings decision. To let Edler walk, better options out there, Myers is 4 years younger and more durable, same with Gardiner who turns 29 in July

And they are worse players too. But hey let’s give them more annual salary and seven years to take them to 36. Makes tons of sense. Hopefully Frank takes the cheque book away If this is how Elmer plans to spend his cap space.

Re: Canucks Contracts
We’d have Kylington and Calgary’s 3rd if it were not for Edlers full term NTC thanks to Gillis
Garrison 5 years $27.5 Million full NTC, thank gawd he waived!
