Hargraves would be a top 5 GM in the NHL!!
Nobody would say Hargraves is of below average intelligence!

Give Pearson the year to prove one of the poor one ends up being good. Miller bo Pearson could be an amazing 2nd line.

That is a high salary for only three years.
Not a steal at all for Benning, but he wasn’t bent over either.
But they could regret not getting him for 8x8m if they could have.
Are you kidding this is a huge steal! 2 yrs of rfa control with only a 7.5 QOat the end of it??? he’s worth 7.5 right now. A 4 yr deal you could end up with a trouba situation, 5 yr deal it’s ufa and the Matthews situation, 6yrs only buys one ufa year. 7 or 8 years would be great but no rfa’s are gonna sign those contracts with how MacKinnon, Scheifele, even draisatl all left a pile of money on the table. This is as good as it gets, kudos to jet black Jim.

Good signing by JB. I was hoping to lock him in longer but this is a reasonable amount and length for a bridge deal.

It’s a solid deal. I don’t see it being a huge steal but at least Sutter, Air Thief and Beagle will all be gone by then. And it slots nicely in between Petey and Hughes and Bo.

Yeah. I think most of us were thinking it would be in the $7M range and longer term. Keeping the AAV under under $6M is really big. He's making less than Eriksson and only $1.4M more than Sutter for twice the production and obvious potential to possibly triple that.

IF things go as planned (and hoped) Benning will be boasting the services of a 40 goal scorer for the next 3 years at the price less than what some 20 goal scorers are getting as free agents.

I'm thrilled to have been wrong on this one.

More than one horrible. Gagner's and Schaller's were both worse than poor. Though Loui's albatross is worse than horrible.

The huge steal may be a bit of hyperbole, it’s fair for both sides, if brock can take that next step and start putting up 40 goals we’ll have no problem locking him in on a long term deal at whatever rate 40 goal scorers are getting then. If injuries hamper him and he doesn’t improve much more than what he’s worth right now, that’s still a 7.5m player so not a lot of risk for the team.

Hargraves is trying to be positive. Tom Schaller will be cut in a week and Gagner is gone. We are still paying carcass of Ryan Spooner though

Warm bodies, that’s all they were, gagner is also second line winger for the oilers can’t be all that bad. Remember gagner was brought in to be a placeholder for petey if he needed time to adapt to center (or play in the ahl like linden wanted) after the sedins retired. Luckily petey is a superstar delivered to us by the greatest gm in the league.
