Solid deal. I was leery of a four or five year contract but I like this. Good deal that still gives the team two years of control when it’s finished. And it expires one year before Bo’s.

So hey Doc. In the glow of having the Boeser deal signed I
Was thinking about these big contracts that some people suggest that Benning has made a mistake in signing.

Would you say it would be fair to say that when this bridge deal expires and all those deals come off the books and will allow the Canucks to lock up all of their young guns into long term stability contracts that all of that will be according to plan?

Like in other words knowing that his draft picks would pan out but that it would take five years before the salaries were due, he essentially was playing with found money in the short term with free agents and reclamation projects?

You know, basically dicking around until the stallions were ready to roll?

Just wondering ...

Righto SKYO. The talking heads were always saying it was the structure of the deal and its impact on the qualifying offer that was always the sticking point.

And in the meantime, we should see a great injury free season or two. ;)

Oh he was dicking around all right. Smarter move would have been to sign veteran players to market value short term contracts and flip them for young assets at the deadlines instead of having them here underperforming for five or six years.

Again, I am shocked by this.

Great deal for all parties, Brock gets to show-me for the big dough.

And can you imagine the return on Brock if you needed to traded him at this cap hit?

Absolutely it was the plan.

GMs are thinking/planning about the cap, present/future, all the time!

Most of them don't get bent over a barrel by their kids like that dumbass in Moronto though...

Good for the team cap situation this year.
That is a high salary for only three years.
Not a steal at all for Benning, but he wasn’t bent over either.
But they could regret not getting him for 8x8m if they could have.
