So blob prefers the worse player on a worse contract? Doesn’t he bitch non stop about sutters contract? Cap space doesn't matter in a rebuild so who cares about the contract.Richardstroker69 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2019 8:34 pmSo blob prefers the worse player on a worse contract? Re: Canucks Contracts
While I think it was an overpayment, especially considering the current pieces on the roster that now have to be figured out, there is no comparing paying a 5th for a soon to be UFA’s rights and getting a player that is making less than Eriksson and signed for another 4 years.
There’s some changes that absolutely have to be made now. The summer is going to be interesting.....hopefully not vexing.
Miller will look like a bargain and nobody will bat an eye at the price tag if Benning can move out two of Loui, Sutter, and Spooner, and JT hits 50 points.
With the cap falling at $81.5M instead of the forecasted $83M, and much speculation that it won’t go up much, if at all, next year, adding a middle-6 forward to this current team is a risk.

Benning obviously is operating under the assumption that he will be icing a contender which should indicate he is sure he has the inside track on at least one impact defenseman.Mëds wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2019 9:42 pm While I think it was an overpayment, especially considering the current pieces on the roster that now have to be figured out, there is no comparing paying a 5th for a soon to be UFA’s rights and getting a player that is making less than Eriksson and signed for another 4 years.

Nobody, including him, would make a move like that if he wasnt fairly certain the team would be improving dramatically and since he identified that defense as a major weakness at the end of the year...somethings brewing

I've said many times we will need to start being careful with the cap starting in 2021.
Miller's contract runs through 2023, Hayes' contract runs through 2026...

You want to spin this in a knot, fill your boots. The Flyers spent a 5th on a similar player.
The Flyers get it. Elmer ... and clearly you... don’t.
He's so blinded by his hatred, now he's sticking up for the Hayes contract, considered by many outside the 1040 bubble to be the worst in recent memory.
And signed before the final cap number was known like it's amateur hour, yet blob still defends it!

It’s the sticker price for Miller I don’t like Tiger. But please keep nodding and agreeing with everything Doc says. Does he let you eat any of the corn he digs out of your ass? Try to keep up youngster, Dud was going on about the price Winnipeg paid for three months of Hayes which was completely irrelevant to the bounty Brisebois extracted from Lennie Small. Either way the Flyers didn’t pay a 1st (a good chance of being a lottery pick) and a 3rd for Hayes. The Flyers paid too much cash but not much in assets. Then again they don’t have losers like Sutter and Eriksson siphoning 10.4 million off the cap, so they could afford to spend a bit more.ESQ wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 11:27 pmBlob is now playing checkers with his straw man.Blob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2019 4:38 pm

Right the flyers didn't give up a 1st, instead they grossly overpaid for 7 years. Cap space is an asset. Try to keep up.Blob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 11:57 pm

Let me try to simplify it for you - do you think anybody would give the flyers a 1st for Hayes on his contract? At any point in the next 7 years, will he have that value?
If Benning traded Miller tomorrow, do you think he'd get a 1st back?
It's called asset management, blob.
