If I'm Bo, which I'm not, I do the two year show me, then strike for 8!

If I'm Benning I try to get 8 now.

Since we seem to be hiring, maybe we should sign this dynamic father/son duo.

Or just "play it safe", and give them a PTO.

Well Bob McKenzie tweeted today:
My expectation is Horvat's new deal is likely to have a term north of 5 years (6 or 7?) and an AAV north of $5M (but not $6M).
So 6 or 7 years above $5m per, less than $6m per.

I hope 7 years.

Question: Bo Horvat really seems to have a natural drive to keep adding dimensions to his game and to surpass
what many thought he would top out at. To me, that is clear. So my question is, could his numbers have been higher and his evolution more pronounced on "some" different teams?
Would you think this is part of their "negotiations"?
Oops. That's 2 questions, my bad...

Sedins will decide by Jan/February probably if they feel like re-signing or retiring, I'm guessing one more year at $2M a piece if they are having fun playing still and the team is playing better than expected and more importantly they are not detrimental to the team's success moving forward.

But of note the RFA's for July is Baertschi, Granlund, Stecher and Burmistrov.

I'd like to re-sign Stecher now to like 6 years @ $3.75M per, if you can lock him in with the Mattias Ekholm contract, Nashville Predator style all the better.

JB has to jump the gun on a couple players regarding potential soon.

Baertschi, Horvat's right hand man albeit LW is well prepared for a monster season imo.

http://theprovince.com/sports/hockey/nh ... um=twitter

I'd look to maybe Viktor Arvidsson's contract $4.25x7, but I'd give Baertschi a bit less around $3.75M - $4M per x 6 - he and Horvat can be a strong duo for the next while.

Granlund if he has another strong season scoring 20+ goals will be a quality asset, but with Boeser, Dahlen, Goldy here, he could be trade bait AFTER the season is done. Hard to do, as I like his skillset, but he will need a bigger contract if he scores over 20. (chalk it up to nothing personal, just business) and we could use a package deal trade to improve.

*UFA-2018 Gudbranson will be the canucks focus though, look to him to have a STRONG physical season, he'll be gunning for a long term contract obviously, both he and the team know whats at stake. I say he has a 6'3 210lbs Willie Mitchell type career, just a bit more physical for the 6'5 220lbs bruiser who hopefully can help stabilize the d-core in front of marky/nilsson.

One thing Benning mentioned after the Horvat deal was that Bo's contract sets a bar for the Canucks with their future signings. For the next several years anyway I think we can see the Canucks try to use that 5.5 as a benmark and measure players accordingly. Benning didn't go as far as saying it's the ceiling but a benmark they will use in negotiations.

Of course it means nothing for UFAs like Gudbranson.

A little lite I suppose, BUT, if the legs really start to fail after this year but they want to still be part of "The Team"
Couldn't our really nice owner supremely over pay a couple of high profile head scouts, hence making team cap space
and a couple of roster spots.

You homies just watch man, Stecher & Baertschi will have killer seasons coming up real quick.

Six years @ $3.75m per for Stecher. *(ok maybe 3.5m  )
Five or six years x $3.75m-$4m for Baertschi will be a steal for em ahah yes, trust me.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.
