I was all in on the retard angle mostly because almost all his moves have pointed to an apparent dillusion regarding the state of the franchise. Once the dillusion was removed he has shown he can make the moves that are needed.

I guess Doc and Topper will finally be able to exhale at least...if he hadnt have made significant moves this deadline i really think he would get the punt
Yeahno, Topps and I never shared your "dillusion"

Nor did the Aquilinis...

Or if you prefer to judge Benning's intentions by what he does rather than what he says, why would a GM undertaking a long-term rebuild -- rather than a quick turnaround re-tool on the fly -- hire expensive free agents (Vrbata, Miller) without a plan to flip them for assets before their contracts expired ?

It walks like a change in direction, swims like a change in direction, and quacks like a change in direction. Let's watch what they do in the free agent market this off-season and see if it flies like a change in direction.

Vrbata has screwed 2 teams in 2 years at the deadline and Miller is likely worth more to the canucks on the ice than bringing back a 5th rounder or whater he would fetch.

Yeah, agree on Miller.

Vrbata is one weird dude. Obviously cared about the money when he was signed here, then had a pissy fit almost the entire second year, not only screwing us, but costing himself millions.
Eccentric jerk.

"In a hurry" is a relative term really!

I'm not sure what you thought in reference to that but honestly where we were in 2014 when Benning took over if we can become a decent playoff team next year (and honestly I think we could've been this year if not for injuries again).

Our depth is increasing year by year with retained picks and bringing more youth.

Completely changing the lineup and getting back into the playoffs in 4 years is a quick turnaround in my books! If it took 8 years from JB's takeover that would not be quick. I think a 4-6 year turnaround is nothing to sneeze at, especially with the amount of NTCs and NMCs the roster had. And that giant age gap that has been well documented.

If we are a legit Cup contender by 2019 or 2020 Benning has worked miracles in my books!

Not sure how you define "in a hurry" but no matter...

Don't ever play poker with General Jim!

As soon as Genius Jim said that, the Great Strangelove turned to the weak-bladdered folk and said:

Fair enough but until basically last week the team has been implying they were considering themselves contenders by adding final touch type pieces like Eriksson and adding extensions to mediocre players.
After the demoralizing ass reaming Ferkland and the Lames gave basically the same core 2 years ago I would've much preferred Jimmy skip the long term boat anchor type contracts and done something to give the teams youth the ice time needed to learn and fuck up...

The goalposts haven't moved at all... I said that 3 years ago!

The next summer I said "3-4 years".

Last summer I changed it to "2-3 years".

This summer I'll be saying "1-2 years".

What part of this do you not understand Grasshopper? :mex:

Lol which injuries were so devastating that they derailed a playoff team? Fuck that is some funny shit. Maybe it was the Dorset injury, Gudbranson perhaps ?

Oh and I hate Willie too but Scotty Bowman couldn't coach this group of scrubs to a playoff spot.
