May as well re up Dowd and Archibald as well.

LOL what a mess
I’ll try to clear up the mess. I’ll bold the players that are on a short leash and likely to be traded or waived. You put some of the best prospects too low, and some of the worst too high. From Benning’s comments yesterday. It sounds like Gaudette and Pettersson are both at least penciled in the line-up as scoring forwards, and he wants to sign Hughes. While those things could change, I think the starting line-up October 3rd is more likely something like this:

Baertschi Horvat Boeser
Eriksson Gaudette Pettersson
Roussel Sutter Virtanen
Schaller Beagle Granlund
Gagner

With Gaunce, Archibald, Goldobin, Motte and Leipsic trying to take one of Granlund or Gagner’s jobs. But it won’t really matter because in the long run one will go to Dahlen and the other to Lind, Jasek or Gadjovick.

Tanev Hughes
Gudbranson Edler
Stecher De Zotto
Pouliot Hutton

With Juolevi and Sautner getting some call up time during the season.

Markstrom
Demko

I think Green has seen enough and wants to move on from Nilsson.
I agree with Cherry Picker here. Only thought is if Dahlen, Lind, Jasek or Gadjovick prove good enough to stay, we may see Erickson bounced to 3rd line (barring injuries of course)

I'm not sold on Gaudette being gifted a role. He was fine during his late-season call-up, but Brock Boeser he was not.

Seeing that EP is about 135 pounds, I expect they'll want to shelter his minutes and give him veteran support. I think you're more likely to see him play with Sutter. I could see Gaudette (if he makes the team) rotating in and out with Gagner.

Bart-Bo-Flow
Eriksson-Sutter-EP
Roussel-Beagle-Virtanen (that line won't be fun to play against)
Granlund-Schaller-Gagner/Gaudette (a pile of centres, not a faceoff man amongst them)
Tanev Hughes
Gudbranson Edler
Stecher De Zotto
Pouliot Hutton
If Hughes does sign, I think he gets a good chunk of PP time, but can you really see him being on the top-pairing? That seems very Oilers-esque to me.

Tanev-Edler
Gudbranson-Del Zotto
Pouliot-Hughes/Hutton

Benning sees Gaudette and Pettersson as scorers. That doesn’t ring as 4th liners to me.

I agree that Hughes would be used more in offensive situations. But because of the lack of offence from the D, I think he’ll get whatever ice time he can handle.

Who has Pettersson on the 4th line?

Horvat started as a 4th liner. I think they'd be fine brining Gaudette along slowly.

Thinking of the golden nuggets predictions on the team drafted/traded for to build around for the long haul:

Horvat Boeser
Dahlen Pettersson
Gaudette Virtanen

Hughes _____
Juolevi Woo

Demko

Then you got the expensive vet players that a lot of people loathe due to their contracts in Eriksson, Sutter, Beagle, Roussel, Edler, Tanev and Gudbranson.
The unknowns: Gadjovich, Kole Lind, Lockwood, Palmu, Jasek, Rathbone, Brassard, Brisebois, Chatfield, Madden.
The expendables: Goldy, Baertschi, Granlund, Leipsic, MDZ, Hutton, Pouliot.

imo the key ingredient missing for now is a big gritty Shea Weber 'type' right side top pairing dman who has a cannon of a shot.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Maybe, (some day), we could acquire Evan Bouchard. I understand he fits that description.

sorry, bad joke. I admit it.

I was thinking that perhaps the angle of the photograph was deceptive in that regard.

Or Maybe young Mr. Woo is taller than advertised ?

It’s nice weather out.

Can’t blame people for not wanting to sit inside in a day like today

Makes sense, the big meeting is next week, Michigan or the Canucks.
imac:

Agent Pat Brisson and #Canucks GM Jim Benning spoke today about 7th pick Quinn Hughes turning pro.

Each side will discuss what’s best for D-man’s development, and they’ll try to agree on a decision within a week.
His style of play I think he could put up at least 30 NHL pts next season with sheltered minutes, offensive zone starts, powerplay etc.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.
