Zero interest at this point. Personally, I think the U23 team is the dumbest idea I've ever heard. It's country vs country, except for the U23 team. McDavid and other Canadians playing against Canada...how stupid is that.

I have as much interest in this than I do for the outdoor games. Contrived is the word that comes to mind.

Hank was asked about the lack of enthusiasm and he indicated he has found it hard to get excited, but adds yet. The shinning light, as a fan, is that perhaps it helps players get into game shape earlier. An advantage offset by the fact that every team with players in the tournament does have the same advantage.

I suppose once it starts I may tune in but if I garner as much enthusiasm as I mustered for the Rio Olympics perhaps I won't.

Totally agree with everyone so far.
Bad time.
Injuries.
Will never be captivating like the old days.
Young star team is dumb, (so is a mixed Euro team)
Most important to me? It's an important year for our development, camp and pre-season, and this interferes too much....

Actually, I find the Young-stars team one of the reasons to watch. Seems like an interesting twist. However, I can't argue with Zedlee... the crest on the jersey isn't going to make McDavid muster every last bit of energy he's got to find that tying goal. Nor are the mixed-Euro guys going to feel like they'd go to war for their linemates. No chemistry, no country for either of these teams.

But I'll probably watch because my 8-yr-old will think it's cool.

I'll lift a heavily sedated eye lid here or there but it'll mostly be to see where the remote is to crank down the shitty tim hortons ads

Better than Doc losing it in erection 2016, bachelorette or any other stupid reality show.

Yes and we get to watch some of the KHL's best players as well as
possible draft choices to come ..

A lot better than watching the F*ng All star game..

My only concern is the health of our beloved Sedins & Eriksson.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

International rules for this tournament so not as tough as NHL odds are good :) they will be well protected

Nope.
The 2016 World Cup of Hockey will be played on NHL-sized rinks using NHL rules and officiated by NHL officials.

I drink to that! :drink:

It's a flawed tournament, played at an odd time of year, but we get to see most of the best players, albeit some of them playing on weird teams. The important thing: It is hockey and it has been a long summer. 8-)

All Sweden's group games will start at 9pm Swedish time, so surprisingly good TV times despite being played on the wrong continent... :D
Both Finland and Russia will have some games that start 3 am local time.
The Czechs have two games at 2 am and Team Europe one.

I would guess so. There were four players on theteam that are NHL captains:
Henrik Zetterberg, Henrik Sedin, Gabriel Landeskog and Erik Karlsson.

Imho, with Zetterberg gone, Henrik's experience should make him front runner for the position, considering that Landeskog and Karlsson are so much younger, and Henrik already has won Olympic and World Championship gold.

I'd give Henrik the C and Landeskog and Karlsson can be assistant captains.
