How could the World Cup of Hockey effect the Canucks
I've been thinking about this quite a bit and I don't see how we won't be effected.
If our Swedish line plays together and does great, will they be targets when the real season starts?
Could Markstom out play his team mates and make a big splash?
Will Hansen get "over used" on the European team?
An injury?
Maybe an injury to a player, (or two), from another team making it possible for JB to make a move in our favor!
Hey; you never know
Will this tournament be played like a bunch of all star games or will it be "kill, crush, destroy" ?

If no injuries to our players I think it will only benefit them.

All players in this tournament, if they remain healthy, will have a leg up on the rest of the league. They will be in game shape by the time camp breaks. We have seen this from past tournaments.
The only HW the Canucks need

Yes, but the last one was in 2004 and I think much has changed since then.Hockey Widow wrote:All players in this tournament, if they remain healthy, will have a leg up on the rest of the league. They will be in game shape by the time camp breaks. We have seen this from past tournaments.
Not the least of which is the modern training regime that depends more on gym work and modern contraptions than on ice work.
Just to mention one thing...

The question is what shape the Twins will be come February and March? They will have extra mileage then most by that time and they're at an age where that will be a factor if they aren't already on IR.Hockey Widow wrote:All players in this tournament, if they remain healthy, will have a leg up on the rest of the league. Well it hasn't affected Sbisa. He still looks as shitty as ever.

Watched the first two periods and saw the highlight of him getting danced for a goal...Well it hasn't affected Sbisa. He still looks as shitty as ever.
He either imploded in the third period or you didn't watch the game and are making your comments based on the play where he got danced...
Sbisa isn't a Corsi darling, but two areas where he was a top 10 dman for much of last year were making first pass out of the zone and the ability to separate the puck carrier from the puck and I thought those skills were obvious in the two periods I watched...
Sbisa was one of the few Team Europe players who was able to handle the Team North America speed and had a much better game than most of his fellow defencemen, especially guys like Chara...
Take care...

He looked like a Bantam player on both goals by Gaudreau. I didn't need to watch the entire game to see he is still a shitty player who is grossly overpaid.

I'm gonna go in between and say Sbisa has the skills to be a really top defenseman but for whatever reason, he seems lost and confused. That is what I saw last year. That is what I saw so far in this tournament...Blob Mckenzie wrote:He looked like a Bantam player on both goals by Gaudreau. It's been on display since he was drafted. Lots of great tools and a profound inability to deploy them effectively and with much consistency.micky107 wrote:I'm gonna go in between and say Sbisa has the skills to be a really top defenseman but for whatever reason, he seems lost and confused. That being said, Gaudreau has danced far better d-men than Luca Sbisa.

LOL Sbisa was a healthy scratch for Team Europe yesterday. He couldn't even bump Ehrhoff or Seidenburg out of the lineup. Yeah I'd say Ralph Krueger agrees with me when it comes to Sbisa.rikster wrote:Watched the first two periods and saw the highlight of him getting danced for a goal...Well it hasn't affected Sbisa. BTW Ehrhoff and Seidenburg don't have contracts for the coming season.
