Nah, stay the way you are Doyle and sneak attack him like this:

Podkolzin has recently been sat out for a couple games back to back. Anyone hear if he’s back in? The Russian centre Vancouver picked this past year apparently has a real shot to make the Russian entry at the WJC.

https://www.nucksmisconduct.com/2020/10 ... -schedules
After taking about a month or so off to fight the coronavirus, head coach Valeri Bragin returned to the bench yesterday and one of his first moves was to healthy scratch Podkolzin along with three other players for last morning’s game
Podkolzin's coach doesn't like him. ?? Whatever, it's Russia..Coach sounds like a basket case. Not looking good for learning much.
BUT
On the contrary, Nikita Tryamkin’s head coach Bill Peters just oozes ice-time love for the Big Friendly Giant. The disgraced ex-NHL coach knows what he likes in a player and Tryamkin meets his checklist. He has sent out the Russian behemoth for a team leading 23 minutes and 18 seconds per game of ice time this season. This includes some Zdeno Chara-like monster ice time games when he is especially needed in a tight match.
We don't want a big friendly giant though.

That link has this in there:
It appears he will sign his Entry Level Contract (ELC) with the Vancouver Canucks on or about May 1st, 2021 and then join them mid season for their 2020/21 NHL season which is currently expected to start in early 2021.
I believe this to be inaccurate

Here is a write up about 3 Van prospects recently drafted. I like reading that the JJ kid has a high ceiling in the mold of Edler and Ohlund. What a win that would turn out to be

https://thehockeywriters.com/canucks-pr ... o-persson/

In May JJ was tagged a sleeper with fantastic upside in a pre-draft analysis:
2) Joni Jurmo (LD, Finland, Jokerit U20)

APRIL RANKING: 34

MAY RANKING: 26

VARIATION: +8

ANALYSIS: Jurmo is now my top European defenceman and the more I watch him, the more I’m convinced he is a first-round talent. I believe he has top-pairing potential based on his skating ability and his offensive instincts. There is refining and developing to be done, but the raw upside warrants this ranking. The explosiveness is reminiscent of a young Joni Pitkanen. Jurmo also reminds me of Rasmus Ristolainen, who went eighth overall in 2013, but Jurmo hasn’t gotten as much exposure to date. He is still very underrated and could be labelled a sleeper based on other rankings and mock drafts. Jurmo is often labelled a project — thus the conservative rankings — but I’m ready to call him the real deal.

Nils Höglander has been one of the best two way players in the SHL this season https://canucksarmy.com/2020/10/24/nils ... um=twitter
The Canucks could add Nils Höglander to their team at the beginning of the 2020-21 season and he is making a strong case for it with his play in the SHL. Even though the point totals haven’t …

Even though the point totals haven’t been at an elite level, Höglander is playing an excellent two-way game this season. Höglander has played in nine regular-season SHL games and has totalled up five assists in those nine games. He has recently been taken off of the powerplay unit and is now being relied upon to produce strictly at 5-on-5.
The latest I have heard from the Höglander camp is that they want to stay in North America once they come over. Höglander could end up playing with the AHL team or be a part of the travel team. It’s not really set in stone how that is going to work next season. If you look at the Canucks’ depth chart for wingers, Höglander should be above guys like Jonah Gadjovich, Kole Lind and potentially can win a spot over Loui Eriksson or Zack MacEwen with a strong performance at training camp.
optimism is good ;)

I hope to Christ he can. Playing better than Loui is not the particular bar I would choose for a 2nd liner to try to beat.
The Cup is soooooo ours!!!!!!!
