It all hinges on how he looks against the best players in the world. He better be ready to eat some glove for those zorro moves...NHL dmen aren't going to be as impressed

Especially true considering that one of those younger players happens to be Demko, a goaltender who appears on the cusp of hitting his stride at the age of 25. To have skill, at a young age, in so many spots is just amazing.rats19 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 2:47 pmIt’s very exciting... so looking forward to next phase of our fandomCurmudgeon wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 2:40 pmWith Hughes and Pettersson so young, and given the caliber of some of the players here and on the way, it appears we're about to enter a phase in the team's history like we've never seen before. It was later in the Sedin's career when they were legit contenders, the Bure era was so short, and the WCE were pretenders so this is entirely different with what could be two of the top three players in franchise history being in their very early 20's and surrounded by quality talent and the window swinging wide open. Pretty exciting.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Sat Dec 12, 2020 8:55 amBenning has done a fantastic job building the next Canuck Dynasty starting from an absolute bare cupboard shitshow. He will go down as one of the teams greatest GM’s.Curmudgeon wrote: ↑Fri Dec 11, 2020 10:54 amI agree and when you add in a Rathbone, things get real interesting. If Juolevi can make it, and once they add Pod, that will mean every Benning era 1st rounder with the exception of McCann will be in the Canucks lineup.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Fri Dec 11, 2020 6:12 am When the Hog, the Pod and the Tree arrive look the fuck out

Demko is an interesting piece for sure. He looked like Patty Roy out there and if that is where his game is now then a championship is a legit possibility from here on out.

I'm not too worried about him. I don't expect him to play lights out like he did in the playoffs all season, but we should see some flashes of that game from time to time. Holtby will help steady the net, so it will all work out.
This season is going to be step sideways or slightly up, then we clear out some deadwood and get serious in 21-22.
Hughes will be better this year, and his points will depend on what the rest of the team does after he sets them up. Petey and Brock - no worries there either.
D should be slightly improved - if only because Tanev's 'man games lost' shouldn't be a factor.
Playoffs should be the goal, and last year's experience will pay dividends.

Podkolzin with 2Gs vs Austria. He looks like a young Nasi (#19) ripping a wrist shot top shelf on the off wing, then scores greasy goal in front of the net like Bert.

Looks like Victor Persson is adjusting and playing well in the dub. Looks like a solid defender @ that lvl and hard to beat. The One-Eyed, Bro Bro Rafferty didn't pan out, but at least we have Persson now to be our new Sami Salo project.
