I would take Dobson over Bouchard and both over Razor Thin Olaf

Chef Noah Dobson is a top pairing calibre right side d prospect. I'd pull back on ragging on the kid cuz you'll be hearing about it in a couple years. The kid a fantastic young up and coming defenseman.

So fantastic he can’t win a starting job over Toews, Mayfield, Leddy, Pulock, Greene, Pelech, Hickey, Boychuk?

Meanwhile the fantastic - Hughes, Makar, Heiskenen, Fox all dominating first and second pairing

The Islanders have a way better defence than Vancouver. Not even close.

If Dobson was a Swede or an American he would love the guy. He loathes Canadian kids.

Canucks have Juolevi and Rathbone that could both be ready by the time next season starts. They both play the left side though.
Maybe Jack waits one season as Edler will retire. Or will he?
The big problem comes on the right side. Really big if Tanev leaves. Does Stecher get a new deal? There is really only Rafferty that "may" be able
to play NHL hockey. Risky to go in to the season with both Tanev and Stecher gone. Buying Tyson Barrie is a terrible idea. Never afford it anyway.
He'll get old fast now too.
There isn't much out there that we can afford without tearing the front end to pieces. Just try and resign Chris and Troy to short term cheap deals
for now if they'll bite on that. Say your team-mates need you, bla-bla, bla...
Not really believing the rumors that C Tanev is all agog about going to play with B Tanev.

There was an article recently comparing other top dmen that trotz has developed and NDs ice time. It is right in line with those players at the same age. Weber was one of them.

I have no idea. But he’d easily crack the Canucks top 4.

What do Shea Weber, Ryan Suter, Ryan Ellis, Roman Josi and Matthias Ekholm have in common?

Defenceman, Stringbeans will never be as good as

Weber and Suter are probably HHOFers”, Josi might get there. Dobson should be better than Ekholm and Ellis, but if he doesn’t get there he could still be a damn good player.

Are you familiar with Barry Trotz at all? You do realize that none of the above players was getting NHL minutes at Dobson’s age, right? He played as 19 year old. Those guys were all 20-23 when they got regular ice time playing for Trotz.

I noticed he shut up about Byram after he tore the WHL a new asshole in his last 25 games. Two years ago he said Makar shouldn’t have even been a first round pick. It’s a Canadian thing. He got bugged by a lot of hockey players growing up I think.

That's a great point and another example is Trotz appearing to help Carlson take the next step. Good coach for putting defensive structure in place and building from the net out, like the Preds first playoff team had Scott Walker as their leading scorer and defender Marek Zidlicky second, so that bodes well for developing both defensemen and goaltenders.

I remember hearing Trotz being interviewed a few times before the Capitals hired him and he was lobbying or was a candidate for the Canucks job but they ended up hiring Willie D. What a mistake.
